My Question or Issue

Spotify insists on running during Windows startup. I have gone into Advanced Settings and the option for running with Windows is set to "No". I tried setting it to "Yes", rebooting my PC, then setting it to "No" and rebooting again in the hopes that it would override something somewhere, but to no avail. If I opt for Spotify to start with Windows, but minimized, it will start minimized, so that one particular setting seems to be respected by the application, but I can't seem to stop Spotify from starting up. Msconfig doesn't work. This problem came into my sphere after I uninstalled the regular, old Spotify installation and re-installed it through the Windows 10 store. I have 3 computers with Windows 10 and all have the same problem. What gives? I know of a temporary workaround where you rename the executable file to Spotify1.exe, but that seems to imply that it won't incorporate well into Windows. Ie. if I click a web URL it won't open Spotify and similar problems when using integrated services. Besides, it's a workaround and I want a solution! I know this gets asked repeatedly, so I'm just hoping there's been an update on this issue since last time I did a sweeping round. What's the word from Spotify on this? Help me, intarwebs!

Hey fresiki, welcome to the community!

Please try and read this article and see if that works! Sometimes startup settings can be a bit buggy.

Hello. It took me a while to get around to this. When I go into Apps and "Startup", both Spotify and SpotifyWebHelper are set to "Disabled". Spotify still runs during startup. Other things I have tried: - Going into the Task Manager and the "Startup" tab. Spotify and SpotifyWebHelper are both disabled (set to "Off") on this page as well. - Tried renaming the executable file. I have Spotify installed via Windows Store. There doesn't seem to be a proper executable as it runs as some sort of integrated Windows service. That is to say, the only executable I could find was located in a folder with a long, randomly generated name, and I was given a system error when I tried to change the file name. This is my home computer and I have only one administrator account set up on it. - Hit Win Key+R and wrote "shell:startup" and made sure there were no Spotify shortcuts in the startup folder. - Hit Win Key+R and wrote "msconfig" and made sure there were no Spotify or Spotify Web Helper applications or services running with Windows. - Checking through the services in the Task manager to see if Spotify somehow runs as both an application and a service. - Tried going into Spotify app settings and changing the setting that lets you run Spotify from the Web, as well as making sure the settings for running with Windows are set to off. Like I mentioned in my original post, when I choose "Run with Windows, but minimized", it runs minimized. If I choose "Do not run with Windows" or "Run with Windows", it fills my desktop on every startup. - Tried setting the priority on the process in the Task manager to low. Yeah, at this point I am just trying random things that seem to be relatable to the issue because the issue makes no sense. It's as if Spotify is able to override every Windows setting for startup. This is starting to become annoying, I have 3 Windows PCs and they have all been behaving this way for the past year. I want my old life back, lol. I don't see how there is anything more I can do, however still open to tips. How can I elevate this issue so I can get some technical support from Spotify? Do they have like a.... form, or a phone line?
