Remove from Queue Missing

Remove from Queue Missing

Spotify for Windows

Operating System

Windows 10

Problem

The Spotify Queue "Next in queue" does not allow me to remove an item from the queue whilst the "Next from:<playlistname>" allows me to remove an item.

Looking at the attached screenshots you will see "Next in Queue" does not have a context menu "Remove from Queue" where as the "Next from" context menu does.

This is annoying as I cannot remove a song I manually queued on my PC unless I use Spotify iOS to do it!

Expected Result

It should be the other way around, which is how it used to work before one of the recent updates and how it presently works on Spotify iOS.

Hey @killerofshadows,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

We'd recommend running a clean reinstall of the app. Please follow the steps from this Spotify Guide exactly, as this will assure that all app data is cleared completely, before reinstalling.

Keep us posted on how you get on with this.

Cheers.

Thanks for following up however this appears to be a bug with Spotify Connect.

I should clarify further, this missing context menu item seems to occur when I am connected to my Onkyo Receiver via Spotify Connect only. The missing menu item does display if I am playing on my Computer or my iPhone (and controlling it from my computer).

Following your steps still did not resolve the issue, even after removing and reinstalling via Microsoft store as well as re-installing straight from the Spotify Website (I also ensured the spotify local app data folder was removed).

Hi @killerofshadows,

Thanks for keeping us posted on this!

Could you let us know if you're still able to remove a song (while streaming from your receiver) from your PC by selecting it in the queue and pressing the Delete key? Can you do that in the mobile app as well (Open the queue  > Select the song by pressing the dot on the left > Remove)?

We'd also recommend you check if there are any recent firmware updates for your receiver and make sure it's up to date.

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers!

Hey Yordan,

I did update the firmware on the Receiver, however I do not believe this is the problem as:

  • Pressing the Delete key on the "Next in queue" on Spotify PC does nothing.
  • I can remove the item from the "Next in queue" on Spotify iOS.

It should be noted that I can remove items from the "Next in: <Playlist Name>" when I am connected to the Receiver via Spotify Connect on PC (which shouldn't happen). It seems like a bug where the the "Next in queue" and the "Next in: <Playlist Name>" are swapped around for deleting (maybe a dev got the wrong list index for allowing a delete?).

Is there anything further you need? I am happy to provide logs or anything else of use to confirm this issue, including test builds. Should note that the Receiver update did not change anything as reported on Friday.

Hey there @killerofshadows,

Thank you for your reply and for the troubleshooting you've done so far. Good job!

It would be great if you can have someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member to see if the issue persists. This will help us understand if it's account related or not.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply 🙂

Take care!

Hi all, I am experiencing the exact same behaviour. When connected to a receiver the option to 'Remove From Queue' is not available. As soon as I return to playing from 'This Computer' then the option returns.

Windows 10
Build 1.1.83.956.gbe7ea9a7

Gramofon receiver (cannot see any firmware updates available)

Hey there @Spear2018!

Thanks for joining the discussion and providing us with extra info.

We haven't received many reports of this behavior and we're not able to reproduce it from our end, so could you give the steps we provide above a try to see if you notice any difference in the behavior?

If it remains the same, do let us know what you've tried and we'll see what we can suggest next.

Thanks for your collaboration!
