My Question or Issue

So, spotify stopped working, playlists were all gone an nothing would play, similar problems as in this reddit post https://www.reddit.com/r/spotify/comments/aoc1ea/spotify_not_playing_on_my_pc/

and I did all generic fixes for any app, tried some of the stuff suggested online, then reluctantly tried the delete hosts method that everyone seems to think is the cure all, not only onec but twice, and I nearly **bleep** up my whole computer the second time, but guess what? It failed.

So I then tried two simultaneous things, one was a resolution to go back to the online web player, which had become much less enjoyable (organization was pushing playlists and podcasts to the forefront, neither of which I use, plus it felt like there were more ads) but then, just as I found out that I could run the oldest version of spotify that both spotify and windows would allow me to install, the next day, I find that this version no longer can recognize that its connected to the internet, and so defaults as offline, and so I cant play anything, but then I try my webplayer, to find that now that comes up with Something went wrong

Try reloading the page so I then go online to try to fix this, logging out and back in, reloading, making a new account, but if I am logged in, it doesnt let me in. So then I tried every fix that is apparently a cure all for that, clear chache, clear cookies, clear everything, try again, and it FAILED. I checked online again, and I am using, chrome, the newest version, completely updated, so its not that. I had been having minor problems with spotify for about a year before, you know, little stuff going wrong, like the web player cant search, or the app says my release radar is empty, but after december I just gave up. I then tried again today, because I miss having it, and it is still messed up on both platforms.

However, I should say that while webplayer fails on every browser on every device for me, and while spotify on my laptop appears unfixable, the one place my account still functions is on my TV, a Samsung QLED, I dont know the exact model.

So, long story short, spotify wont work, and every solution so far has failed, so please let me know if you are either the genius who has found a real, working solution, or if you are in the same boat, because then we can all complain together, which will make me feel a little better about it, and might even result in somebody finding a solution of spotify directly fixing it. I am desperate for my spotify, please help

Hi there @TJP2002

Welcome to the Community and thanks for reaching out about this.

We're sorry to hear that you've been having issues using the desktop app. No worries, we're here to help.

First up, it's well worth running a clean reinstall to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble. This one is more thorough than the usual one. Additionally, we suggest that you make sure to download the app again from the Microsoft Store

Also, we don't recommend using older versions of the app since they can interfere with the app's optimal performance.

On another note, we know that you've already tried it but we recommend checking if you have entries containing Spotify in your host files and delete those following these specific steps you can find in this Solution

Let us know how it goes 🙂
