I finally sorted out the issue with help from support. Turns out a recent update may have caused an issue with systems that utilize forwarded home directories.
I had to turn on local sources, deselect the sub options for it, and then turn off local sources. Now the app runs fine.
Hey @Holy_Frijoles,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community.
We appreciate all the troubleshooting you've done so far. In order to continue investigating this, we'd recommend clearing any entries which contain Spotify from the host files on your computer to see if it makes any difference. To do so, you can follow the instructions mentioned in this post (even if it's a different issue).
If the issue persists, could you record a short video where we can take a better look? You can attach it to your next response by using the Insert Video option in the post editor. You can also upload it to YouTube or Google Drive and share the link with us (make sure the video has the permissions for anyone to watch it).
Lastly, include in your next response the make, model, and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to continue investigating the case.
We'll be on the lookout.
I did try the fix with the hosts file, unfortunately, my hosts file only contains the template record.
As for recording a video, there isnt anything to see. I open the app, let it sit for a few minutes, and it just closes. Nothing in event viewer or logfile about a crash.
