Spotify Mobile cannot switch back to Spotify Desktop

I used to be able to switch flawlessly between Spotify Mobile to Spotify Desktop vice versa. 

In recent days, I've noticed that even with Spotify Desktop logged on, my app on mobile will not have the option to play and switch the song on my desktop anymore. 

Is there any updates that led to this?
