Spotify auto launch even when configured not to

Solved!

Spotify auto launch even when configured not to

Hi,

my Spotify is configured to NOT launch on startup at all, but still launches on strtup.  This happens whatever the option is (on / off or minimized). I guess this is a bug. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but the bug remains. I'm thinking about fully removing spotify for real.

OS w10 x64

Thanks for helping

In Advance Settings, when you enable Spotify to start when logging into to Windows, the Spotify.exe --autostarts is created as a startup task, and when you enable Spotify to open up from the Web, the SpotifyWeb.Helper.exe is created as a start up task.

The recent updated version has a bug that's creating a Spotify.exe --autostarts instead of the SpotifyWebHelper.exe when you enable Spotify to open up from the Web .  This is causing Spotify to start automatically when logging into Windows.

The temporary fix until this is patched is to disable or turn off "Allow Spotify to be opened from the Web" then log out and log back in to check.

Happens here too...

Spotify keeps creating an entry in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run for "Spotify Web Helper" with the value "C:\Users\trojahn\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\Spotify.exe --autostart". If I delete it, it recreates it as soon I close Spotify.

If I configure it to start on boot, is creates another key there with the name "Spotify" with the same value. This is the intended behavior... Some intern screwed up the Web Helper entry...

Looks like that workaround fixed it.

I've been watching this bug for about a week now.

I just changed the registry entry, it was "Spotify.exe --autostart" to "SpotifyWebHelper.exe --autostart", more I don't have start automatically Spotify when you turn on the computer.

I have not even changed the settings in the program, and the checkbox "Allow Spotify to be opened from the Web" has been activated by me so far.

Perhaps this will help you. It helped me!
