Spotify behind a https proxy

Solved!

Spotify behind a https proxy

Hi,

At work I am using Spotify connected by a https proxy. It seems Spotify does not like this kind of connection as the following is broken:

  • Browse (only the loading gif shows here)
  • Discover (no images shown)
  • Artist overview page (no images in album list)
  • Who to follow: No images
  • App finder: No images
  • Apps won't work

Can you please fix these bugs?

Oh, and this is on Spotify for Windows version 0.9.6.81

Whats a Spotify Rock Star?

So the proposed solution is:

In Internet Explorer, go to Tools --> Internet Options --> Connections --> LAN settings --> uncheck "Automatically detect settings".

This setting is already unchecked on my computer, so this sadly does not solve anything for me.

Cool, that fixed it. Thanks 🙂

I'm having the same problem. This doesn't seem like an appropriate long term fix.

Are you getting a crash or just missing content in the client?

holy **bleep** thank you. I know it's not your solution but i would never have found it otherwise

Hi,

when I use Spotify at home with my notebook i read this kind of error: "The country is not the same you set up in your profile. To continue to use Spotify, update your profile or upgrade your Spotify account".

No problems with my android app!

@garib what country is set on this page and what country shows for your IP address here?

In both i read Italy but it shows a different Province I live. Maybe due a proxy server?

If you are behind a proxy, try disabling it to see if you still get the same message.

I'm connecting throught a wifi satellite modem. Maybe It is the cause.

ok many thanks

To use spotify behind a http proxy, nagivgate to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Spotify.  Open prefs using notepad.  In the network.proxy.addr line, change the @https to @http.

This is what I do when I have this issue because my proxy isn't https.

I does not help in 1.0.8. When I change @https to @http Spotify cannot connect at all.

Interesting okay.  I'm running 1.0.8.59 and it's still working for me with @http
