So I'm listening to a Radio, a song comes up that I want to add to a playlist, I click on teh album art and select add to playlist select the playlist then BAM music stops, dissapears. I'm rocking a W7 with plenty of memory (8core) NO reason for it to crash.
Also went to play Que to add the song Still crashes
If you can help it would be appreciated cause I'm getting angry.
[Edit - Title for clarity - Mod]
Solved! Go to Solution.
After I upgraded to the latest verison using the "tool-tip" suggestion that I quit and restart, today, I experienced at least a dozen crashes. It seemed to be correlated with the ads but I couldn't be sure because it would just completely close Spotify and provide no error message.
I've reinstalled, as suggested here, and hopefully that fixes it.
If not, I'll be back. Thanks.... though, really, serious bug guys. Bad form.

Edit Update: Yup. That didn't fix it. Still crashing on random ads. Does anyone have a copy of the old Spotify version, it worked great? [ 0.9.4.178.g259772ba ]
Hi, it seems I'm a bit late to this thread and haven't had a chance to scroll through all the discussion. I am having the same issue where I delete a song from a playlist and spotify crashes (without deleting said track). Is there a solution? I ran the supplied code on my terminal (/Applications/Spotify.app/Contents/MacOS/Spotify) and it is outputting quite a bit of text, maybe because I am actively listening to spotify right now. Thanks!
@lizfig - What version of the client are you using Help/Spotify > About?

@peter Version 0.9.4.178.g259772ba
@peter -- same problem with me, same version -- Version 0.9.4.178.g259772ba
Crashes randomly during song OR ad playback, after any number of minutes but usually not longer than an hour goes by without it crashing.
this did not help me. I had the same problems and followed these instructions. the problem was not resolved. what other solutions are there?
Did you try a clean reinstall following these instructions?
Yes, i used that same method
Great, thanks. What operating system are you using?
On a Mac Book Version 10.8.5, I'm using spotify version 0.9.4.178.g259772ba. As I said, I redownloaded just a few hours ago. Thanks for your help.
Right. Can you make sure all spotify processes are stopped, including spotifywebhelper, if it's running then ununstall. Next, find and delete these folders if they are still there.
~/Library/Caches/com.spotify.Client
~/Library/Application Support/Spotify
You may need to enable showing of system files to find these. Then reinstall. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Done. Same problems continue. I'm at a loss here.
OK. I since saw that quite a few users of more recent Mac OS are having similar problems. Spotify is aware (there was a tweet earlier) so your options for the moment are to use an older version (search the community for details of how to do this) or stick with the web browser.
Sorry I don't have better news for you.
So I completed the upgrade of the latest version for my desktop spotify app on my Mac and ever since the app will completely shut off randomly... I have uninstalled and installed the app again. It still isn't working.
HI abrown1781 - Mind confirming exactly which version you currently have installed? Still having trouble today?

Will try and remember to reproduce this later when I am near a Windows machine!
In the meantime if anyone else is having this issue - please post your details here 😉

Can you try updating to v0.9.4.x manually using the installer below?:

Not sure why you haven't been automatically updated - should solve this issue for you.

I'm having the same problem but it seems to be sporradic. I am running OSX mavericks. I will be looking up songs and going through music, but when I go to right click either the actual link or the album art in the bottom left corner and try to add it to a playlist it crashes. seems to happen every 4-5 songs. I can relaunch and it'll add the song. I don't know why it's doing this randomly...
That's a different issue with a different cause but easily fixed. Just follow the advice in this post to fix it.
