So I'm listening to a Radio, a song comes up that I want to add to a playlist, I click on teh album art and select add to playlist select the playlist then BAM music stops, dissapears. I'm rocking a W7 with plenty of memory (8core) NO reason for it to crash.
Also went to play Que to add the song Still crashes
If you can help it would be appreciated cause I'm getting angry.

@triplea325 - your observation that it was just one playlist gave me an idea - I created a new playlist, copied all the tracks from my current playlist, and deleted the old playlist. Deleting from the new playlist seems to be working just fine.
The troublesome playlist is one I've been churning through (adding/deleting tracks at a prodigious rate) for several months - perhaps the problem is a heavily-used playlist getting corrupted somehow? It appears a workaround may be to just clone the playlist...
I've noticed people mentioning this happening on Windows and Mac. Just to make sure it's not missed, the same crashing is happening also on iPhone 5 and iPad with the latest iOS versions.
Mine is also what you'd call a "heavy churn" playlist -- the one I add to or delete from nearly daily. Interesting..
I have started to have the same problem
here is my situation:
premium spotify member, listening to pandora radio, find songs i really like, right away as it is being played on pandora go to spotify on dekstop windows 7 x64 ultimate 16gb ram, i7 (fully updated, browser, flash, shockwave, java ,etc) and search for the song, find it, play it or not, right click and add to a certain playlist with no other action, and the next thing i know spotify goes away from my screen and when i try to get it from taskbar it vanishes and i have to relaunch. and as you can imagine, the song is not added to the list and i have to do this over and over.
funny thing is, this did not happen to me on my laptop which uses a win 7 x64 home premium, i7, 8gb ram, and is also fully updated. i just added a bunch of songs at work with it yday, and come home i my desktop, i run into the issue. no bueno
desktop spotify version
version 0.9.1.57.ge7405149
not sure about laptop though, dont have it with me now.
To update - I've gone over an hour after moving to a new copy of the playlist and deleted several tracks without incident. Also, the playlist feels snappier now - at least, deletions seem faster than previous to the crashing problem. So, maybe the data structure for playlists fragments over time and eventually corrupts? Do playlists need a defragger?

Okay, enough. This is day six of this issue on both my work pc and my home pc. I have had it. Does anybody even care that this issue is occuring?
I bet if everyone on this thread canceled their subscription they would get it fixed pretty quick. What a joke this has become.
It would be NICE if someone from the spotify' staff or from the forum's staff could confirm if the problem has been reported to the developers or not.
BASICALLY, the software crashes when drag and dropping tracks to a playlist or when deleting a track from a playlist.
Which is pretty ANNOYING considering the entire software is based on playlists.
Please tell us if your request has been taken into account OR NOT?
Thank you.
I tried this workaround -- no such luck 😕
At least three people have already said that their crashes relate to a heavy-churn playlist.
Well, mine too. Maybe there is something to that. Weirdly the small "now playing" icon next to the current song
doesn't show up either.
I don't know if it has to do with any of that, but when I'm playing songs ( whether it's on a playlist or not) , the song stops at some point... It's bugging me...
So, I was listening to some Garbage (the band), added a track to one of my playlists, and it didn't crash. I was thinking "Wow, maybe they actually fixed something here". Then I added another track to the same playlist and Spotify did another faceplant.
It's been almost a week now.
This is happening to me on both Windows and Mac.
I add albums to a playlist. After listening, I remove the songs from the playlist. If I've played the song recently (which is usually the case), Spotify crashes whenever I delete the songs.
Having the same problem. I've used PC and a Mac. If I edit a playlist, usually after doing something in another window, Spotify crashes and shuts down.
I'm also having this problem everytime I try to add a song to a playlist. It works completely fine otherwise, but if im adding a song to a playlist it just crashes
I am having the same issue. I am running windows 7 with Version 0.9.1.57.ge7405149 This does not happen every time I am adding songs, but several times a day. Kinda embarrassing when I am trying to suggest your service to a friend. 😞
This does not happen on my android.
The same thing has happened with me. I'm new, so I was dragging and dropping but the program immediately crashed. I thought it was just a problem with Internet Explorer/Windows, so I redownloaded it on Google Chrome, but it kept on happening. Also happened when right-clicking and hitting "Add to playlist".
iTunes radio is looking really good. Maybe I'll just cut my spotify subscription.
should I go with a web client like Deezer to prevent such issues from happening?
I thought I would stop in and see if there was any progress in fixing this from the so very talented programmers and guess what..NADA for at least a week.
SPOTify you appropriately picked a name for this mess of a product.
