So I'm listening to a Radio, a song comes up that I want to add to a playlist, I click on teh album art and select add to playlist select the playlist then BAM music stops, dissapears. I'm rocking a W7 with plenty of memory (8core) NO reason for it to crash.
Also went to play Que to add the song Still crashes
If you can help it would be appreciated cause I'm getting angry.
[Edit - Title for clarity - Mod]
Solved! Go to Solution.
The only workaround I've found so far is to pause the music before adding, it's the only way it doesn't crash for me.
This IS rather ridiculous and has not even been addressed for several, several days. I made an account here explicity just to add another comment to this forum to provide more incentive for this to be fixed. I have found absolutely no ways around this bug. And those who pay, as they have quoted, are getting very cheated. And I, for one, am not becoming any more likely to begin paying for this service if this continues to go unaddressed along for the reasons below that I will address.
Spotify frequently ceases to move to the next song on my playlist quite regularly. I will play a song and it will just halt altogether after that song is finished and not play the next song unless I manually bring Spotify back up and CLICK on it. And even worse is the fact that it will STILL play ads directly after songs, but will NOT play a song after!
Further, I've found that the app system is broken in that after I add apps to my personal menu, it says the app isn't there. Really? I've looked up solutions online and tried several things to no avail. How can you expect people to pay for this service when it claims to be seamless streaming and a great experience when it just ends up sometimes being everything BUT.
And STILL more, Spotify, for SOME reason will sometimes pop up randomly on my screen when I'm on another page! It randomly opens itself and blocks my view of the page I'm on! It's incredibly irritating and obnoxious. It also makes no sense. I do not want Spotify continually opening itself OVER the webpage that I'm already looking at for no reason without me even opening it! How does this even happen??
Entire aspects of Spotify are just plain broken! And the last three problems have been going on for weeks and maybe longer! Once again, why would I have incentive to pay with such broken and inexusable problems? Spotify team, please fix this.
Hi, and welcome to the community!
I've seen this a fair few times from memory now, so I'll escalate it to the staff to see if they can reproduce it.
But for now, have you tried a quick Clean reinstallation of Spotify?
What Spotify version are you running?
Anthony 🙂
Rdio is looking really great about now. Never knew about this music streamer until I looked through this thread. I'm tired of said problems listed above. If nothing is done, I'm definitely looking into Rdio, hands down.
Hi, I think that this bug is releated to the behaviour of the grid component used to show the song list. Crash seems to be very frequent when adding a new song or removing an element that is in the middle of the list, i.e. when the grid has to be resized to rearrange the list. I tried several workarounds to avoid it: the only one that seems to work is this one: I use an empty list as a temporay place to park the song and then I can safely move it on the effective list by using the "cut & paste" feature. Hope this can help other users until you find a real software solution! 🙂
Fix the problem ASAP, please, it's very annoying!
I also get this problem now, and have been getting it for the past week or so. Nothing helps 😕
I have the same issue... 3 times this morning when I added a new track on a playlist.
Version 0.9.1.57.ge7405149.
Windows 7.
I am now seriously considering http://www.rdio.com/
I read the entire thread and all I want to say is I don't understand all the crying. Yes there's a problem, yes it's been going on for a while, but people are working on it. Status updates are being posted and overall I for one enjoy using this software. No one is forcing you to pay ( well maybe your latest subscription fee) or to stay. If you have nothing to do but to cry like a kid in the candy store who's not getting his or her way, in my opinion don't bother posting.
Unhappy with the service, cancel your subscription and take the whining attitude elsewhere.
---> I'm going back to my music
What status updates are you talking about? Where can I find them?
I don't know if it's already been mentioned, but by clicking on a different playlist and then clicking back on the playlist you wish to add/delete a track from BEFORE you add/delete, it eliminates the chance of Spotify automatically closing. It's not a solution, but as a temporary measure it works well enough.
Shut up, you must be someone's cousin or a worker
We're paying for this service,we got the right to complain
What updates are you talking about? None on their official Twitter account
You're really bitter, get out of here and don't even bother to reply

Troll harder, mate.
Spotify v0.9.1.57.ge7405149
Yea, this happens to me after adding 3 or more to a playlist. How would this affect system resources or file operations in Windows 7 from within the Spotify program? Is it a Spotify bug or a Windows bug?

Thanks, Anthony. Version 0.9.1.57.ge7405149. I have not tried a clean installation. I think my problem is the same as the one from the "Spotify crashes when adding songs to a playlist" 50-page thread. So this thread can be safely deleted (can we delete our own threads?).
Hi,
I'll merge it into the thread so as to 'add' you to the list of people with the issue.
Anthony 🙂
I have spotify on two computers and it does the same thing on both. Its very random but also a huge pain.
Same problem as everyone else here. At least i know it's not me. Seems to only crash when adding song to playlist, and randomly. (7-64bit,SP1) i7 4770, 16GBRAM, SSD60GB,3TB, radeon 7950.
I've been having a similar problem to the ones listed here, only it doesn't always crash. It just started happening ~a week ago, sometimes if I try to add a song to my playlist Spotify immediately closes without having done what I asked. If I open it back up it has no problem and functions pretty well except every now and then it messes up. For example I was adding songs from 1 band to my playlist, going along with no problem until 1 song triggered it to shut down after it had just been doing the same function over and over again. Really annoying!!!
So, This will be post 500 or so on this same topic.
Yes, for me Spotify sometimes crashes when I delete a track from a Playlist.
Yes, for me Spotify sometimes crashes when I try to add a track to a Playlist.
And yes, I am just as fed up with this issue as everyone else!
The thing that bugs me most though, is that in all these posts, and elsewhere, I cannot find ANY response from Spotify agreeing that there is even a problem.
If they can't even be bothered to accept thereis a problem, I won't hold my breath for a solution.
Terrible customer service. Diabolical support.
