Spotify forces to start at boot -malware

Today I started my pc and Spotify started itself without me ever enabling this option or giving Spotify permission to do so. This is outright malicious behaviour and I would like to know why Spotify is suddenly creating startup services without even asking the permission of the users. I especially want to know WHY this is happening because I live in the Netherlands/ EU in which adding keys to the register of Windows without first asking permission of the user is breaking several cyber regulations (and at least one EU privacy law that I know.)
