Spotify is blocking media buttons

Hi,

I just noticed that Spotify is blocking my media buttons on the keyboard. When the Spotify window is active I can't control Window's volume. Other buttons like play/pause etc work.

When the application is not active and runs on background volume control is enabled again.

It's happening either on my PC in the office and even on my notebook at home.

Why is it so?
