My Question or Issue

I cannot access Spotify from my work network. As per IT Spotify uses peer to peer networks which are banned at work. Is this the case? Does Spotify really use peer to peer networks to serve the music?

Hey @NewBeats

Spotify desktop client is no longer using P2P network, all music streaming comes from the servers.

You can try the web player, maybe that works.

Spotify could still be banned by IT departments at work because of various reasons.

Let me know if you need more help. 🙂

Have a nice day!

Thank you very much @Sebasty for your reply. The sole reason given to me by administrator was peer-peer networking used by Spotify. Do you know where can I find official details on Spotify about not using peer-peer networking? So that I can give that as proof to administration for unblocking Spotify.

@NewBeats

There hasn't been any official statements by Spotify on this, but here is an article containing an interview with a Spotify team member confirming that Spotify is no longer using P2P and is now relying on its servers only.

Hopefully this is enough for your IT department. 🙂

Have a lovely day!
