Description
Whenever I try to play a song, spotify will play the equivilant track number from the next album down, and to play the song I want to I have to play the equivilant track number from the preceeding album.
A more detailed description, using numbered steps
1. Tried to play the song I wanted to listen to (e.g. Bohemian Rhapsody on CD1 of the Queen Platinum collection) by double clicking or pressing enter button
2. Song on the next album plays instead (One Vison on CD1 of Live at Wembly Stadium)
3. To get original song to play I have to play the equivilant track number from the preceeding album (track 1 - Intro from Queen Rock Montreal)
What I expected to happen
I expected the song I wanted to play... to play
What actually happened
The song on the next album played (same track number, same CD number, next album down)

I'm having the same kind of problem but with the Carolus Rex album.
Try to play the Swedish version of Carolus Rex or the English version of Gott mit uns and it comes up as the other language instead.
I live in Sweden so it gets really weird that I cannot listen to the Swedish or English version of a song.
Sabaton – Carolus Rex - Swedish Version <-- is in English.
Sabaton – Gott mit uns - English Version <-- is in Swedish.
Nothing with cache to do, same thing on my phone and my tablet.
I have found this issue in the album Tennessee Pusher by Old Crow Medicine Show.
On that cd, track 11 (Tennessee Pusher) has become track 10 (I Hear Them All) from their previous cd Big Iron World.
I got the same issue, but I have it already since the beginning of spotify, so I guess 8 years..
It usually happends when I:
1. have opend an artist page,
2. put the computer into sleep
3. put the computer back ON
4. then try to play a track from the artist page that is still open.
At this point spotify plays a different track from the same artist page.
Zapping to a different playlist and back to the first artist page doesn't solve the problem.
Because of the cache on your pc the artist page isn't reloaded from the internet.
Spotify helpdesk told me that time is was a bug.
But still it hasn't been solved.
The way to get spotify to play the right song again is as following:
1. restart spotify
Only this way the artist page is reloaded again and the right track-links are atached to the right lines in the artist page.
Don't know why a company as spotify isn't able to solve this easy issue.
Also this is just my understanding of the problem, and I'm no expert.
Same exact issue, April 13, 2015. Every single song display is 'behind' one song, it will not show the current song. No fix- restarting the computer doesn't even fix it. How many years does it take to get a bugfix around here? Are all streaming music programs just this shoddy and haphazardly coded?
This is a deal breaker for me. I joined spotify just a few days ago and so far my trial has been extremely underwhelming. The ads are obscene and abusive, the interface is awkward and seems to lack key, basic features, downvoting songs don't remove them from the playlist, it randomly cuts out, lags, or gets stuck buffering, and now this? Definitely sticking to Pandora. Same problems but less severe and more convenient to use.
I've tried reinstall spotify, did not work. I don't have the "clean cache" option on my desktop. Only cellphone. The problem only accours on my desktop. When I click a song it jumps about 3 songs down on the playlist and it's not all artists (but there is more artists that have this problem rather than a few).
However, if I go in on artists pages(those who have the error), it works as it should. This issue is really ANNOYING, this is a basic function for me and I get pissed of the lack of interest from Spotify, when I pay for this service, I expect better support and definitely at these kind of bugs.
I have windows 7 Home premium, 64 bit, SP1.
I'm simply amazed that this bug continues to persist nearly TWO YEARS after the original post on this thread dated June 6, 2013. My original experience with Spotify was that the quality of sound is very good, the library of music is excellent, but the user-interace design is problematic and the software quality is the worst I've ever encountered from any major commercial online service of any kind. That this thread--and the underlying bug--is still active after this length of time is a clear indication of serious and fundamental problems in this company's software-development organizatioin and processes. I know intermittent software bugs can be difficult to find and solve, but this is ludicrous.
I was about to switch to Rdo when my mobile carrier, Sprint, ran a promotion with Spotify for 6 months of premium for free, so I postponed my move and signed up. I have fairly successfully avoided most of the bugs by downloading lots of music to my computer & phone and listening off-line, as the code is much more stable in that mode. For example, this particular bug doesn't seem to happen in offline mode, but I saw in emails that it still hasn't been fixed.
When my 6 months of free service is up (which will be soon), I will definitely be looking at alternatives, specifically because of the increadibly poor quality of Spotify's software. My purpose in writing this rant is in hopes that someone at Spotify will understand what a competitive liability this issue is for you.
I just started having this issue on Mac.
Song supposed to play:
"Kansas City" by The New Basement Tapes
Song it plays:
"Freak Out" by Tapes 'N Tapes
Song supposed to play:
"Long Way Down" by Robert DeLong
Song it plays:
"Long Way Down" by Mr. Big
They played fine before. Just deleted all cache files and clean install. Didn't fix it. I can send the link to the song to friends and it plays the correct song.
I'm amazed to see just how many posts there are about Spotify playing the wrong songs and this hasn't been fixed. So far I haven't found a solution to fix them.
I'm a premium user playing Spotify with MAC and iPhone. I've got the same problem. Try the reinstllation but not solved the problem. Please fix it!
I'm using it on a Mac OS X 10.11 and Iphone and I have the same issue. It only plays the right song on the phone. e.g: Instead of playing partynextdoor's recognise it plays only by nicki minaj. Or instead of two weeks by FKA twigs, it plays the one by grizzly bear. I've already uninstalled and installed multiple times, deleted caches, log out and log in but nothing seems to work.
thanks, dude. this worked for me.
Right now, when I play a playlist, all of a sudden a random song thats not on my playlist is played?
