Spotify prevents Windows from shutting down

Solved!

Spotify prevents Windows from shutting down

Every time I shut downWindows 7 x64 (on a fast computer), I get a message saying that Spotify prevents Windows from shutting down. If I manually tries to exit Spotify, it takes just a few milliseconds, so that should not be the problem.

Is it possible to make Spotify automatically exit when Windows shuts down?

Same thing even on a Windows 8.1 (don't ask why) and one Windows 10 without Anniversary update

Started with Spotify 1.0.34

I have the exact same problem, please fix that, it's very annoying...

Everyone has that problem.

Spotify 0.9.x was the last usable version.

Since 1.0 it's just a buggy thing.

Same problem here...

W10 Pro x64, Intel Core i5 6500, 16GB RAM, MSI GTX 960

Please, fix it 😕

This has NOT been fixed. Version 1.0.34.146 on Windows 10.

So fed up of this every time I shut Windows down I've uninstalled Spotify.

I've had the problem for a while now with Windows 10 and Spotify 1.0.34.146.g28f9eda2

It's begun to frustrate me because I rarely use spotify but it opens itself up and then expects me to shut it down!  So I've solved it for now by changing the open so that it doesn't open on startup, not a proper fix but helps for now.

Please get it sorted.

try to shut down manually

What do you mean? I am trying to shut down manually. It then hangs asking
me to log back in and manually cancel the application (a chore) or to
continue and system will shut it down. Either is a step I should not have to
take. No other Windows program requires this and the original problem raised
two years ago is marked as "solved" when clearly it isn't.

When I close my computer down I want to be able to walk away safe in the
knowledge it will do so after I've left the room. With Spotify I have to
hang around waiting for the warning that Spotify is holding up the shutdown
and asking for manual intervention as to what to do. Life's too short,
especially when I shut down my PC every day. It's easier to just remove
Spotify if they can't fix the wretched issue

C'mon now, let's agree on one thing before we solve anything. Spotify is
the best amount of the money that you spend to chill your soul a bit.

for me the problem appears the first time after the aniversary update.

1.0.34.146.g28f9eda2

Same here, but Windows 8.1.

Increadibly annoying, as I shut the machine down, go to bed and then discover that the PC is still on when I go down in the morning.

1.0.34.146.g28f9eda2

Same issue. Fix asap.

Same issue, Windows 10 Home 64 bit

Spotify: 1.0.34.146.g28f9eda2

Please fix it, because if I don't notice it, my PC keeps running and this costs a bit of money. I might just send my next electric bill your way. So please try to get a solution ASAP. I'd also give you control over my PC, if it helps troubleshooting. Just email me.
