My Question or Issue
As the title says. I've done fresh reinstalls and i've cleared cashe multiple time now and the problem still persists. It is very annoying and hurts my ears.
This issue started happening today, and it's been so frustrating that I felt the need to post about it.
Every time I restart the app, the volume resets to maximum. The first time it happened, it gave me quite a scare. What's odd is that the volume slider doesn't reflect this change; if the slider was all the way to the left (minimum) before closing, after relaunching, it still shows the same position, but the audio plays at maximum volume. The only way to fix this is by clicking anywhere on the slider to update the volume. I've tried restarting, clearing cache, and even fully reinstalling the app, but nothing worked.
App: Spotify for Windows (64-bit) 1.2.47.364.gf06e5cee
Device: Windows 10, Version 22H2
Also, second time posting this, since of course your billion dollar company forum threw an error - absolutely ridiculous! If I hadn’t copied the content beforehand, I'd have cancelled my subscription and switched to Apple Music by now.
I have the same issue as well. since 2 days ago, i dunno if anything have been updated but when the spotify app is restarted, the music will play at max volume until i click on the volume bar again.
Additionally, the music has become softer as before even though i did not adjust the volume.
Yes, volume keeps resetting with the latest update, very annoying. Also, volume is noticeably lower, thought I was going crazy but rolled back to a previous version and the issues disappeared.
I have been having the exact same issue for about 2 or 3 days now also. I've tried uninstalling, repairing app, resetting app data and nothing. hopefully something gets fixed soon
Have tried clean reinstalls, everything.
This is also happening on Windows, PC. With the most recent spotify version. Please fix this issue as it is very debilitating.
I'm also having this exact issue as well as the slight fade-in when starting a song that somebody else mentioned in this thread
I have been having this issue for 2-3 days as well. I contacted support about it, and I found out that it only happens on my account. They gave me a test account to try, and everything worked fine, but when I switched back to my own account, the issue started again.
I tried removing my account from the user folder in AppData, and I found that it fixed the issue the first time I opened it. However, the playlist kept repeating, even though the setting was turned off. When I restarted the app, the issue returned.
I reverted back to an older version, and I no longer have this issue.
I have reported it to the support team, who promised to pass it on to the right team so they can fix the bug.
Same thing! Volume resets to MAX at start of the app and adjusting the volume via the bar instantly reduce it to so much lower.
Problem is definately with Spotify for Windows (64-bit) 1.2.47.364.gf06e5cee
I've downgraded to older version albeit 32bit and no more MAX volume error and the volume bar works normally
This started happening to me on Thursday, coincidentally the day I got a new monitor, so I thought it was an issue for that, then realized, it's just Spotify being Spotify. So annoying.
also started having this issue, though volume goes back to normal after moving the volume slider a bit (at least until the current playlist or song finishes anyway), spotify for windows (64 bit) 1.2.47.364.gf06e5cee
This! I have the exact same problem. Max volume at app launch. Scared the beejezus out of me when it first happen. Was so worried I damaged my speakers.
Then when you move the volume slider, it instantly become too soft.
I downgraded to Spotify for Windows 1.2.42.290.g242057a2 and the volume works like before.
Version with the volume problem:
Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
Windows 10
1.2.47.364.gf06e5cee
I have the same issue since a few days on the Windows Store app. I'd guess it happened after a recent update.
Playing any local song will reset the volume to max volume (but the volume bar on the app will stay the same).
If I click the volume bar to where the level was, it will put back the volume where it should be, so there's clearly a bug in the app. But I noticed that it does not happen every time, sometimes it'll switch to a local song while keeping the volume as it should.
Since yesterday, I have the same happen in the Windows Store app in Win10, but with regular streams. First track after starting the app plays at max volume. Luckily I play on speakers and not headphones! Clicking volume slider fixes it from then on, until the app is restarted. Reinstalling the app didn't work, nether did changing the normalization setting. Thought it was linked to me fiddling around with normalization yesterday, doesn't seem to be the case. My Win10 system volume is at 100%, btw. Using latest Windows Store version. 1.2.47.364.f06e5cee
EDIT: Interestingly, lowering volume to 0 and restarting the app results again in the streamed track being played at max volume. So the volume slider is ignored completely after restarting.
Same. So annoying...
It looks like a botched update from Spotify. Reverted to a previous version of spotify for now and it seems to have fixed the issue.
