Spotify spontaneously starts playing

Starting a few months ago if I had Spotify paused in the background of my PC, it would randomly start playing. This was pretty annoying but I learned to just close out of Spotify when I wasn't listening. The other day, however, I got an Amazon Echo and connected my Spotify account. THE SAME THING HAPPENS. Now it'll be the middle of the night and spotify will randomly start playing on my echo waking everyone up. On both the PC and Echo it typically picks ups from a paused song or on the most recently played playlist. What's going on? How do I stop this from happening?

I have a similar problem with my echo. No solution yet.

Same is happening on my Sony Receiver.  First thing I'm going to check is changing the Preferences for Auto Play and turning it Off.  You will probably have to do this on all clients (PC / Mobile Devices).

I'll let you know if this works for me.
