My Question or Issue
When i launch the program and start a song right away, it will start playing for 2-3 seconds and then i get a loop and second 2-3 are played again, but the song will not start completely from the beginning, then it plays normally and so do all songs afterwards.
except if i choose another playlist for example and start another song manually, then it will happen again.
but also not always, sometimes it works sometimes not.
never seen this problem before, until i updated the porgram today.
is this a known issue? i couldnt find anything.
thanks
same here, i hope spotify developer fix this bug now...
Literally the first song I played after installing the MS Store version got stuck in a loop. Please tell me you've logged this as a bug now.
Hey @DarkAssassin29,
Thanks for letting us know that everything is working fine again 🙂
Cheers.
This bug has been happening to me as well. I also can confirm this issue started since the recent update we got on the 19th of March. I've already tried to contact Spotify Support through their Twitter-care page but it doesn't seem like they listen to me much. I've described the issue to them and mentioned numerous times that this bug started because of the update they released to us, as it affected some of the desktop users as proven in this forum thread. They refused to acknowledge my reports on how the original cause of this problem is literally on their end, and they kept asking me to do unnecessary things with my PC like booting into safe mode, disabling my ad-blocker, etc. I do understand that the staff may have a procedure to go through with each customer as it may be a computer hardware issue of some sort, but they completely ignored every single time I tried to tell them that this wasn't only happening to me and was re-occuring to select users using the Spotify Windows Program. I am not entirely sure if everybody has this bug but a quick google search of "spotify looping bug" will show several results and a good amount of people sharing this same annoying bug. I really hope more Spotify mods look into this issue and report this bug to the corresponding teams responsible for fixing issues because its getting annoying how nobody is giving us as much help as we can get. I get that it may take time to reproduce this bug but I'm pretty sure a new update would just fix it. Please help us.
Hey there Elena,
Thank you so much for your help and the problem has been resolved for me and I will now accept this as the solution. Thank you everybody for your help with this issue!!
EDIT: I AM SO SORRY BUT THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED IT HAS STARTED AGAIN!!
Tried this, did not work
Still happening for me as well
And I've tried uninstalling the whole app and re-installing - did not work
Thanks for posting this. I thought it was just my laptop and I was going crazy
Hope Spotify fixes it soon
i dont use vpn, not whitelisted, and im sure youre joking if not i want a real solution nor an update or im gonna try customer service til you fix and im sure that its YOUR applications problem so please stop saying this and please fix this.
I've also done a clean reinstall but still experience this same issue.
i just contacted the customer service,
named personnel said that i have a problem with my account, this happened after the update and i still dont think this is the answer i can see by likes that some people have it too, and not all people (like me) wants to transfer their account! and they cant find an another way so this is what customer service says.
Hi again everybody,
If the steps given by @Yordan didn't help, we recommend that you uninstall the app once more, then restart the computer in Windows Safe Mode and reinstall the app.
To enter Safe Mode, type "msconfig" into your computer's Search bar > hit enter on System Configuration > select the ‘Boot’ tab > select 'Safe Boot (with networking)' > restart your computer. Once up, download Spotify here and try logging back in.
We'll keep the music down until we hear back from you.
EDIT: Nevermind, It came back.
Hi everybody,
Thanks for posting your heads up on the Community.
In this case, could you uninstall the app once more, then restart the computer in Windows Safe Mode and reinstall the app?
To enter Safe Mode, type "msconfig" into your computer's Search bar > hit enter on System Configuration > select the ‘Boot’ tab > select 'Safe Boot (with networking)'. Then, restart your computer. Afterwards, download Spotify and try logging back in.
We'll keep the music down until we hear back from you.
I have the same problem, but i downloaded my spotify from the MS store. I tried the troubleshooting steps and they didn't work. Hope they fix it soon.
This is my OS ver:
Edition Windows 10 Home
Version 21H2
Installed on 4/27/2021
OS build 19044.1586
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.4170.0
And this is my spotify ver:
Spotify for Windows
1.1.81.604.gccacfc8c
I've tried clean reinstalling the app multiple times and resetting it, I've also tired updating my windows, but it still happens. The problem also doesn't only happen on one specific song, it happens on every song that I try to listen to on the app.
Hi! I've also tried the supposed fixes for it, unfortunately the fixes has not worked whatsoever. Still been experiencing this for quite some time now, not enjoyable but gets annoying now and then. Hopefully it'll be fixed eventually! 🙂
The troubleshooting suggested by Novy did not fix the issue, at least not in my device;
I've logged off and uninstalled Spotify, and then restarted my computer in Safe Mode and installed Spotify again. Then, while still in Safe Mode, made the test. It didn't work.
Then, I tried the same thing, but this time, downloaded Spotify in Safe Mode, rebooted my computer and tested it without Safe Mode. I got the same result.
Again, this is clearly an issue with the last update, launched on the 19th, and needs to be treated as a bug in the app itself, not in the many users' devices.
Hi folks,
Thank you for your replies.
Could you also let us know what troubleshooting steps you've tried so far? If you haven't already, try the following (Note: you'll have to re-download your tracks for offline listening):
- Fully close the Spotify app (make sure it's not running in the Task Manager) and go to C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Spotify\.
- There you'll find a file called prefs, which holds information about the currently logged in account. Simply delete it.
- While in the Spotify folder, you'll also find a folder Users. Open it and delete its contents as well.
- Restart the Spotify app.
Let us know how it goes.
Hello there,
I already tried the solution above but nothing worked.
I thought this kind of thing happened only to me, though some users have the similar issue. From my perspective, this issue occurs when Spotify is under unfocused window mode, but I'm not sure if some users have a similar issue like what I said. If you try to focus on the Spotify window, the short looping won't get triggered. I've tried to reinstall Spotify, but it doesn't work.
I hope the Spotify Dev will fix this issue.
Hello, can you give me another suggestion or tips to fix this problem. My PC can't access the network while I'm using it in safe mode with networking. So, I must re-install the spotify in nomral mode and the problem not fixed. Also, I think that I got the behaviour of this bug, if 1 song gets repeated by auto repeat feature or manual repeat when the song is over, the bug will appear, but if I let the song changes like I play 1 album of songs with same artist, the bug will not appear. I don't know why this bug is not appear when I use seek when the song almost done, but sometimes it appears too. Thanks, may be that's all that I can tell based on my experience with this bug.
