My Question or Issue

A lot of tracks in search results and even in my playlists created for example 2 weeks ago that are greyed. But these tracks are available on iPhone.

Also when I try to start to play these tracks on PC using the Play button on iPhone - the PC app shows an error message. But if I close the app, iPhone can play these tracks.

ru-en translation: "This track is unavailable. If you have it on your pc, import it."

Another example:

* I can't listen to Control Machete on PC

* but I can listen to Control Machete on the web player.

Please fix this, it is very annoying. And it happens too often.

For example, this never happens on Youtube Music.

Hi @4jz6ji3oqcekbz,

Welcome to the Community and thank you for posting.

We tried and were able to play Control Machete on the desktop app without issue, so there are some things we can try here.

To start, please run a clean reinstall of the app, as this one is more thorough than a regular one and can be helpful to get rid of any cache that might be causing trouble.

If this doesn't work, please clear the Hosts file on your PC with these steps. Then try to play those artists again.

Let us know how this goes!

Hi MafeG,

I have a lot of other software installed on my PC. Are you sure it is safe to clean my HOSTS file? Are you sure, your advice can be accepted as a solution?

I want to point you again - "it happens very often". Today I boot my PC, started Spotify and it works fine! But I'm not sure, if it will work tomorrow! It is just a defect in the desktop application.
Please make developers know about the issue. Feel free to ask me for details if they can't reproduce the problem.

Hi @4jz6ji3oqcekbz,

Thank you for keeping us in the loop!

If you follow the steps provided in the link I shared, you'll only clear the hosts for Spotify, not for other software. Please give it a try and let us know how it works.

Since this is an intermittent issue we're not able to reproduce, we need to isolate it as much as possible.

If clearing your hosts doesn't work, try reinstalling Spotify again but make sure to download it specifically from the Microsoft Store.

We'll be on the lookout.
