My Question or Issue

This is the third time in the last week that I've opened Spotify and every song is greyed out and a popup says "This content is not available." when I try to play it.

I've changed my audio settings, I've reinstalled Spotify and deleted local files, I've restarted the computer. Doing all of these things has fixed the problem, but this is the third time in the last week I can't play anything through the Spotify Windows desktop application and nothing has changed with my computer. No updates, no firmware changes, nothing. Why is this happening over and over? How to I stop this from happening basically every time I try to use Spotify?

I've been a subscriber for so many years and this is frustrating enough that I will cancel my subscription if I have to do this another time. I primarily use Spotify through the desktop Windows application and this is wasting both my time and money at this point. I won't pay for a service that doesn't work and I'm just about through with this. The Windows application just keeps getting worse and worse, features just constantly disappearing with no replacement and now it just doesn't work, this is just unacceptable.

Hi @squirll31,

Thanks for reaching out about this in the Community!

Sorry to hear that your experiencing this.

We'd recommend you clear any entries which contain Spotify from the host files on your computer. Follow the instructions in this post.

After that run a clean reinstall of the app, exactly as it is described in this article. This will assure that all app cache is cleared and you're running the latest app version.

Keep us posted on how you get on.

I have this same issue and have tried the fix 8 times now. Except for me, Spotify will play for 10-30 minutes after a reboot and then everything will be greyed out. Sometimes it says Content not available, sometims it says I need to get out of offline mode (which I'm not in). Nothing seems to fix it.

Hey @jondeere89,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

We appreciate the troubleshooting you've done so far, but to be sure that we're on the same page - did you use these steps for a clean reinstall? They are more thorough than a regular one. That way you can make sure the cache is not causing this issue.

If so, could you login your account to another device to see if the issue happens there too? Also, it would be great if you can have someone log in with their account on your device - such as a friend or a family member to see if the issue persists. This will help us understand if it's account/device related or not.

Lastly, include in your next response the make, model and OS version of your device, along with the Spotify version you're currently running to have a better look.

We'll be on the lookout.
