Unable to uninstall/install

Solved!

Unable to uninstall/install

Spotify tried updating itself on startup and gave the error code 18, so I uninstalled it to reinstall again.

After uninstalling I used the install again but it gave me the same error, now my computer says Spotify is still an app on my computer despite being uninstalled. This is the second time this has happened.

Hey @flufkyn,

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community and welcome.

You mentioned you already tried reinstalling the app to solve the issue, but have you also already tried a 'clean' reinstall?

If you haven't, check this Spotify Answer to find out how that works. It's more effective than simply reinstalling the app.

Let us know if we can help with any further. We'll be keeping an eye on your reply!

Hello, thank you for linking the Spotify Answer.
I went to %AppData% to remove the Spotify folder but it kept telling me it was being used by something. So I started my PC in Safe mode, where I was able to delete the folder anyway.
After restarting again I could install Spotify again and it works now.

Hey @flufkyn,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Glad to hear that performing a clean reinstall worked for you 🙂
