Volume is fluctuating since Win10 Fall Update

Volume is fluctuating since Win10 Fall Update

I have a problem with thevolume on my pc client.

I didn't change anything but after the Win10 update this fall I cannot enjoy Spotify anymore.

The volume is changing non stop, from loud to silent and back. The volume controller is untouched of course and doesn't change with the fluctuation

I reinstalled Spotify and updated my realtek driver - useless.

This only occurs in the Spotify application. The others are working fine.

I hope you can help me, because I have no clue what to do and it annoys me to the max.

Hey @xFanatickz

That's weird...

Could you try disabling the hardware acceleration in Spotify (should be under View)?
There is also that setting in the Preferences for enabling same volume level for all the songs. See if that's enabled. You can also try disabling it and see what happens then.

Spotify has the web player too, on open.spotify.com.

Let me know how it goes!

Unluckily it didn´t help.

The webplayer is a glorious idea. I play music via firefox but I control it through the Spotify Application and it works fine. (**bleep**?)

I figure that it´s a problem with the application itself and the windows update. I hope theres a fix coming from Microsoft soon.

I'm glad the web player works. I also find the ability to control it with the app excellent. You can actually queue songs too and then have them played through the web player, which natively doesn't have that feature! 🙂

Back to the app... Have you made sure the sound enhancements are disabled as well as disabling Windows from changing volume due to Skype and similar? Asking just in case because these may cause just that as well.
Click on your speaker icon on taskbar, and click on the speaker icon on the appearing volume scroll. You can also get there when you open command prompt and type:

mmsys.cpl sounds

and hit enter.

With Realtek you are likely having the Enhancements tab. Make sure things in there as well as under Communications are disabled / set to 'do nothing'.

The same exact thing is happening to me.  There are some microbursts of normal volume mixed in to the first few seconds of the song, but then it just fades to be barely audible regardless of selected volume level.  Changing setting on same volume for all ongs on or off makes no difference. Pandora and any other site has perfect volume control still.  PC Spotify is worthless like this.
