My Question or Issue

Hi, I've been unable to get Spotify to work on both the Web Player and the Desktop app. I only started facing this problem in the last couple of weeks.

For the Web Player, it states "Something went wrong; try reloading page". I've already tried the following fixes, but the issue has not been resolved yet:
1) Clearing web browsing cache data
2) Logging in and out of spotify account
3) Using different web browsers (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge)

4) Using web browsers in privacy mode (e.g. incognito for Chrome etc)

5) Restarting Laptop

For the Desktop app, I've also tried uninstalling and re-installing multiple times, but it still refuses to play anything whenever I click on a song and hit play (the timestamp does not move for the song when I click play, but there is no error message). I've tried the following fixes, but to no avail:
1) Restarting device
2) Uninstall and Reinstall Spotify App

3) Signing in and out of Spotify Account
4)  Clear local data of Spotify

5) Checked that my antivirus firewall allows Spotify through

Could I seek someone's help to look into this, please? Not sure if anyone else is also facing similar issues. Thanks.

Clearing the host files following this fix worked for me - issue resolved.

Hi there @k3vln,

Thanks for reaching out. Could you please provide us the following:

  • Is this on all devices or only on this Windows Laptop?
  • Did the first occurrence of the issue coincide with an update to Spotify or Windows?
  • Try connecting to different networks and seeing if it works then.

With this information, we’d be happy to investigate.

Keep us posted.

Hi, the problem only occured on my Windows laptop, and it coincided with a Spotify update.

I’ve cleared the host files as per another fix and the issue has since been resolved. Thanks!
