Why can't I remove or exclude an artist in the Windows 10 app or web browser versions?

Why can't I remove or exclude an artist in the Windows 10 app or web browser versions?

Plan: Premium

Country: Australia

Device: (Android phone, iPad 4, PCx2, laptop )

Operating System: (Android 9.1, iOS, Windows 10 Pro x64 (x3))

My Question or Issue

I mostly work from home these days (thanks to COVID) and as I live alone I generally have Spotify on most of the day on one of my two PCs and I make heavy use of the daily mixes. However neither the Windows app or the web browser version on Windows 10 Pro x64 will allow me to hide/remove/exclude any song or artist.  I've googled this again and again and apparently the mobile versions have this facility but the Windows app and web browser versions do not.  And it's correct - when I see a song and click on the three dots there is no option to hide it and if I go to an artist there is also no option there at all.

So my question is why can we not have these options in the app or web browser versions?  What is so hard about this that is can be enabled in the mobile device but not anywhere else?  If I can add or like an artist why I can't I do the reverse?  I'm paying for this service so why shouldn't I be able to ban artists or songs I hate?  It just makes no sense whatsoever and it's driving me mad as I keep getting artists I absolutely hate in my daily playlists and despite never "liking" them (or the whole list) I just get song after song from bands or artists I do not want to hear *ever*!!

So come on Spotify - why is this not in Windows or the web browser versions?  And DO NOT tell me to click on the three dots - as I said above the options to not like an artist or a song are just not there.

Hi @nzmike,

Thanks for the post.

This Idea has been discussed here. It's gaining votes, so it would be great if you add your +Vote too.

The Spotify app has different features on the different platforms. For now it's best to use your Mobile device to block artists that you don't want to hear.

Hope this helps. Don't hesitate to reach out again if you have questions.

Thanks Alex.  Extremely disappointed to see it's an idea that was posted two years ago, has over 3000 votes, but that Spotify clearly has no intention of implementing.  But at least now I can see how many other people are pi$$ed off with Spotify because they cant exclude the music they don't want to hear.  I love Spotify but the  Apple and YouTube offering are both looking more and more attractive every day.  Even the mightily arrogant Apple allows users to exclude songs or artists in their offering - if Apple can do it why won't Spotify?

What I don't understand is *WHY* each version has different functionality?  I am a developer and there cannot be any technical reason for this so it makes absolutely no sense that this works on a phone or ipad but not in the desktop apps or browser versions and no-one has given me a clear explanation of why this is.  Just saying the different versions have different functionality is NOT an explanation.  And why the h#ll should I have to use a device to remove an artist or song?  That is just ridiculous and is NOT an acceptable solution.

Not having a go at you Alex, just so disappointed at the lack of action on this from Spotify.

Hi @nzmike,

Thanks for your reply and feedback.

We don't have official information if this is going to be something that will be implemented and when exactly.
