Hey @evelynnnss,
Apologies for the late reply.
Can you try disabling hardware acceleration in your app's settings and check if your drivers are up to date? Also, does this happen when you're listening to podcast episodes?
Keep us posted.
it is disabled, ive tried with it on and off, everything on my pc is up to date, i do not listen to podcasts
Hey @evelynnnss,
Thank you for keeping in contact and for the shared info.
Since switching the hardware acceleration didn't make any difference, this issue could be related to the specific cache of your host files. In this case, we'd recommend clearing any entries which contain Spotify from the host files on your computer. To do so, you can follow the instructions in this post (even if it's a different issue).
If the issue persists, would you mind checking if the Web Player has the same behavior?
We appreciate your cooperation regarding this case. We'll be on the lookout.
there was nothing in my hosts files and ive tried through the web player as well, but when playing through there it just pauses on its own on random times
Thanks @evelynnnss.
If the music is pausing on its own in the Web Player, do you think it's possible that someone else is using your account on another device? Just to be sure, we recommend logging out from everywhere from your account via the Overview Page here and in order to secure it, you can follow the steps in this article.
Then try using Spotify only on one device for some time in order to see if that will make any difference.
Hope to hear from you soon.
there is no possible way, and that wouldnt explain my spotify closing itself without me doing anything, it has also happened on other accounts
Hi there @evelynnnss,
Thanks for keeping in touch and for following our recommendations.
Just to check and be sure, is this now happening all the time or only when listening along with people on Discord? If it's only when listening along with friends, could you possibly try using a different Discord account to check if you have the same issue?
Additionally, do you have the chance to try with a different internet connection? If you don't have any available, you could create a hotspot network from your mobile device and use it to check.
We'll keep an eye out for your reply.
it happens even when listening on my own
Hi @evelynnnss,
Thanks for your prompt reply.
So it happens when listening on your own, but only when using Discord? Or does it happen when listening just through Spotify (with Discord closed) as well? If it only happens while using Discord, try what we recommended in our last reply.
On another note, were you able to give it a go with a different internet connection? We send these troubleshooting steps so we can get to the bottom of the situation, so it's really helpful if you can try them out and let us know the results.
Take your time, we'll be here 😁
i cannot use another internet connection, ive tried all of the things youve recommended nothing has done much
Hey @evelynnnss,
Thanks for your reply.
Just to confirm, are you using any VPNs? If so, we suggest that you turn it off since it can affect the app's performance.
On another note, would you mind logging into your account on a different PC to check if the same happens?
We'll be on the lookout.
ive used spotify on my phone and it works, the only place its not working is my pc
Hi @evelynnnss,
Could you confirm you are not using a VPN or Proxy server with Spotify, as mentioned by @Eni?
Thanks in advance.
sorry yes, im not using either
Hey again @evelynnnss,
Did you get a chance to check if your system drivers are up to date? It's possible that some may be stock versions/ outdated as you've mentioned that you're currently using a freshly-installed copy of Windows.
You can check the statuses of your drivers by following the steps from this support article by Microsoft.
We'll be on the lookout for your reply 🙂
everything is up to date
Hey @evelynnnss
I did some research on the subject and found this article and the comments there took me here, where a similar issue is being discussed.
Hopefully you'll be able to get some ideas from there. Aside from this though - it seems like the root cause of the issue here is device related and something has gone wrong after the installation of the new copy of Windows. We just can't figure out exactly what that is yet.
Hope this helps, keep us updated.
nothing here helped, i may just have to wipe my pc again 😞
issue for me ended up being obs for some reason, uninstalled and its working fine again
