My Question or Issue

Spotify is running extremely slow recently, stuff like lags and cut off, laggy/unusable time slider, loading pages slow or outright refusing to load them at all and errors like "couldnt play that track" are all happening frequently since like 1-2months ago.

Hey @ANTFKBA,

Thanks for posting on the Community and welcome 🙂

For starters, we suggest you perform a clean (more thorough) reinstall of the app on your computer. You can find the steps to do it here.

If this doesn't do the trick, just to confirm, did you notice if this is happening on the web player as well? If not sure, it'd be awesome if you could check.

Did you notice if this is happening on another computer? It’d be awesome if you could check. You can ask for the computer of a relative or a friend to open your account and check.

We'll be on the lookout for your reply.

Cheers!

Actually i recently did a clean windows install and I was experiencing similar problems with the Spotify desktop app before that so that would rule out a potential broken install.

I've never really used the webplayer before but after trying it I can confirm it's silky smooth, no problems what so ever.

At the moment I don't have access to any other windows machines at the moment but I'll make sure to try it if I get the chance, however i suspect the issues could have come with the recent UI update for the PC app.

Hey @ANTFKBA,

Thank you for your swift response and for the info shared.

If the Web Player works fine, it could be related to some damaged files stored on your PC or some settings within the app. First, we'd recommend checking if hardware acceleration is toggled on by clicking your Profile name (on the top-right corner) > Settings > Compatibility > Hardware acceleration. If so, toggle it off to see if it makes any difference.

If the issue persists, we'd recommend clearing any entries that contain "Spotify" from the host files on your computer. Follow the instructions in this post.

Hope this helps, let us know how it goes.
