My Question or Issue

When I am watching a video podcast (JRE) in full-screen, an ad-break is non-video, when the video resumes, the play area covers the entire spotify main window and right (social) sidebar. It still plays, as well. Clicking out of fullscreen in the top-right does not fix the UI. I have to completely close the window. On the second attached image i'm on the "artists" tab while the fullscreen video is playing over it.

This issue has happened consistently maybe a month now but only now reporting it.

Hey @pizzicatoiv,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community.

Could you let us know if the issue persists after running a clean reinstall on your device? This step lets you start afresh with the latest app version by removing any corrupted files from previous installations that may be causing this behavior. Note that we recommend installing the app version from the Microsoft Store, as it's the one best optimized for Windows 10.

If that doesn't help things, could you try a different video podcast and check if the issue happens there as well?

Keep us posted.

I'm having the exact same issue, JRE podcasts are being brought out of fullscreen by ads and then afterwards I can't get fullscreen to work so I have to restart the Windows 10 Spotify app. I just started using the trial for Premium and I'm blown away that JRE podcasts have ads.. and ontop of that ads that break fullscreen until you restart the app holy meatballs guys.. what's the point of premium for people that just want to listen to podcasts.. and I'm not talking about adverts that are within podcasts, I'm talking about these fullscreen breaking ads that are alongside the podcast.. unbelievable why would I pay I gain nothing at all. Thanks for ruining JRE for alot of people good job

Hi @Powerful,

Thank you for posting on this thread.

Please let us know if you've performed the steps shared by @Mihail  to start troubleshooting this issue.

To address your second comment, while Spotify doesn’t play ads that interrupt the music listening experience of Premium subscribers, some podcast creators may include third-party advertising, host-read endorsements or sponsorship messages in their episodes.

We'll be on the lookout if you need anything else.

Yes I was previously using the normal Spotify that I downloaded from the Spotify website for windows, I started watching podcasts and noticed this fullscreen ad issue which led me to this forum thread. I then uninstalled Spotify and installed the Windows Store version and the problem was exactly the same. The problem could be fixed if the ads didn't affect fullscreen, why should they when it's just an audio clip.. the podcast should pause for the ad and then the ad plays and then the podcast should resume, all in fullscreen.

About the ads and Premium, I personally don't mind it saves me paying for Premium as I don't gain anything by paying for it. Just saved me £10 a month

Hi @Powerful,

Thank you for your swift reply and this extra info.

Could you clear the Hosts file in your PC using these steps?

Also, can you log in with another account, such as a friend's or a family member's to see if the issue persists?

Let us know how it goes.

Hi, yeah I tried all that still no luck. Don't worry about, it's not going to get fixed anytime soon and I'm going to waste alot of time being a test dummy for an obvious bug, thanks anyways.

Hi there @Powerful,

Thank you for your reply.

As we can't replicate this on our end we think that it might be related to your device or account.

First of, can you have someone log in with their account on the device - such as a friend or a family member? This will help us understand if it's account related or not.

We also suggest that you try a different internet connection to see if the issue persist.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Cheers!

Joe is getting pretty annoyed that these bugs aren't being fixed.
