lyrics not auto scrolling

lyrics not auto scrolling

so im using the app on my laptop and have a premium subscription in case that matters. My issue is that when im trying to view any song lyrics, the lyrics dont auto scroll and sync to the song, im not pressing any lyrics or any other buttons, just the lyrics button and it doesn't auto scroll. This issue started just a week ago and before this is used to work perfectly.

Same happens to me.

  • Lyrics are marked as synced
  • The lyrics are really synced, but the lyrics window does not place the current line on the center and therefore it continues mark synced line down until it goes out of screen
  • My setup:
    • Lenovo thinkpad T590
    • Windows 10 enterprise, version 22H2
    • Spotify for Windows (64 bit)
      1.2.29.605.g66a43ceb
    •  Playing from Android phone device, android 14
    • Spotify lyrics.jpg

I think i isolated the problem, it is the "Playing now view" if you close it it scrolls again, if you open it it stop scrolling

Here keeping the thread alive.

Hopefully it gets fixed soon!

This is definitely the issue here. I have been trying to figure out why the lyrics weren't scrolling. I did all the other troubleshooting recommended, but the only thing that fixed it was closing the "Playing now view." I'm glad there's a workaround, but this should be fixed.

Turn on the auto scrolling sync lyrics even then it zoom in to a big text, because current version spotify cant do that

usually im open spotify while working on my project only 1/4 or maybe only 1/8 of the screen, so i put the spotify on the corner of my screen.

the problem is, when I zoom in the spotify app to a certain size, the autoscroll lyrics don't even move down, which makes me have to scroll down manually

but when i zoom out again, the autocroll is working again

This is when the autoscroll working :

and when i press CTRL +, here is what happen:

please, look to this problem, thanks

Why how would signing in under a different account make a difference and who has separate multiple Spotify accounts? 👎

I am sure it is a resolution restriction. I usually put the app in a corner of my screen w/ a res of 952(w) x 607(h) for the window. If the 'Now playing' is open along w/ the lyrics, it does not sync the lyrics; space for the lyrics is roughly 428x459. As soon as I turn off, it works; this res is roughly 859x459. I can maximize the window on the same song w/ the Now Playing and the lyrics sync fine.

Hi, I've been having the same problem and I tried restarting it and it doesn't work. Any other solutions? Mine's is on PC.

Hi there guys same problem happening on my windows pc only does it on windows perfectly fine on my phone. Already did a clean sweep of reinstalling and nothing worked

I have tried redownloading it and it worked for a moment but suddenly it didn't autoscroll again...

Hey folks,

Thanks for posting on the Community and for bringing this to our attention!

As we're seeing a few new comments in this thread, we'd like to look into this behavior further. It would be great if you could send us the following:

  • The make, model and OS version of your device.
  • Current Spotify version.
  • A video showing how things look from your end (just make sure it doesn't show any personal info).

If you've tried any troubleshooting (such as clearing cache, a clean reinstall, trying another device, etc.), feel free to let us know as well. We'll make sure to pass all details onto the right team.

We'll keep an eye out for your replies!

This problem still exists in 2025 for the Desktop version of Spotify.

The fix suggested by user Aliniel works for me, I fullscreen my browser with F11 and the auto-scrolling works fine.

This is still happening for me too.

I've managed to figure out that it's to do with when the "line" of the lyrics (i.e. the currently highlighted portion) goes across more than one line/has a line break.

If I listen to a song that has some shorter lines and some longer ones that cross a line break, the lyrics will continue scrolling properly for the shorter single-line lines (or if the longer lines are near the top of the song in the section that doesn't require scrolling to start yet) then when a multi-line line is reached, it will stick on that line and stop scrolling, though the highlight continues to move to the correct line. If I scroll down to bring the current line close to the middle, it will click back in and start scrolling again, but only until another multi-line line is reached.

This ties in with the reports from last year that mention various things which change the size of the lyrics space, as these could change which/how many lines are split with a line break, so potentially prevent the issue.

Oddly, the issue seems to go away for me for two-line lines if I have the Now Playing sidebar open (i.e. if the bar is open, the lyrics don't stop scrolling even at two-line lines). But they do still stop at three-line lines. And as soon as I close Now Playing the issue returns for two-line lines as well. I haven't noticed anything else that stops the issue but I haven't tried every side bar option.

Please see the below linked video for an example of this bug in action. It's an imperfect video as in order to demonstrate throughout the song I had to keep manually scrolling to get to the right spot, when Spotify stopped scrolling automatically. But hopefully it's good enough, there are several clear examples where it's scrolling quite happily on one line parts and then stops at two line parts. I also show how opening the now playing stops the issue for two-line parts.

Hey folks,

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.

@PerryThePlatypus, apologies for the delayed reply. We just came across this thread. Could you let us know if you're still experiencing this? If so, make sure to send us all the info @Maria asked for previously.

@kpwxx, we're afraid we couldn't open the screen recording you sent as it's set to private. Could you switch it to public? We'll take a closer look.

Keep us posted.

My Question or Issue

Whenever I have the lyrics showing, it will autoscroll for about a minute and then stops. I then have to manually sync them, and it will work for another minute or so and then it stops again. I've tried reinstalling the software and updating my firmware, but no change. Any ideas?

One thing I've noticed is it happens less frequently when I'm listening to an album rather than a playlist.
