My Question or Issue

i can open the app and access settings, but that's literally about it. i can't play songs, i can't open playlists, i can't check my profile and i cannot even see my playlists on the left, i have tried almost everything, whether its flushing dns, trying every proxy, reinstalling (earlier versions too), i even tried going to the web player and that doesn't work "something went wrong, try reloading the page", i can listen on my phone just fine, it's just this pc where it doesn't work. i have had this issue for probably over a year now, i've been trying everything and nothing works, please, if there's a solution, tell me

i found out that if i reset my hosts file and then get rid of one line which includes spotify it works! you see i knew that doing this in the hosts file works but whenever i opened my hosts file there were only one or two links, i found out that this was way different to what other peoples hosts files looked like in tutorials and so i just looked up how to reset my hosts file, followed the steps and got rid of the one spotify link, it now works, thank you guys for all your efforts since you actually caught half of the problem earlier thank god this problem is over now

Mobile user here, I have been getting this same problem, even when I have a strong internet connnection.

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community.

@adam1136912, just to confirm, are you using any VPNs? If so, we suggest that you turn it off since it can affect the app's performance. If the issue persists, we'd recommend clearing up your hosts file by following these steps.

@Eclipse_31, would you mind giving a different internet connection a go to see if that makes the difference? If the issue persists, it's well worth running a clean reinstall to get rid of any cached files that might be causing trouble.

Let us know how it goes.

i do not have any vpn’s enabled and unfortunately, clearing my hosts file didn’t work

Hey @adam1136912

Thanks for your reply.

In this case, we suggest that you check your firewall and make sure Spotify is set as an exception. Additionally, make sure to disable any antivirus or ad-blocking software that might be causing trouble.

On another note, could you check if the OS of your PC has any pending updates?

Keep us posted.

sorry, none of those methods have worked, thank you for being patient with me though.

HI @adam1136912

Thanks for keeping us updated and for trying our recommendations.

Could you try using a different Internet connection? If you don't have any available, you could create a hotspot network from your mobile device and use it to check.

Additionally, you can try resetting your network settings on Windows with these steps.

Keep us posted!

suddenly it wont load on my fire tablet.  Ive been using it primarily.  DO I need to remove it from the tablet and reload?  Internet fine.  Thank you anyone for some help.

Hey @bettyloodunlap,

Thanks for posting in the Community.

Reinstalling the app is a good place to start with troubleshooting unexpected behaviors. Here is how to perform a clean reinstall.

Let us know how that went.

Cheers!

Suddenly stopped loading on tablet.  I removed from all devices, there's an option for that so figured I should try that.  It worked well.  All issues gone!  Hope that works for you too.

Remove and reinstall worked wonders.  Thanks spotify   for having that option

sorry it took a while, my hotspot couldn’t seem to appear on the available networks list, ended up borrowing someone else’s phone for a hotspot and still that didn’t work, i even created a new user on my pc, downloaded spotify there and that didn’t work either

Hey @adam1136912,

Sorry to hear this is still an issue!

Have you checked if it persists with both versions of the app?
There is one you can download from our website and one you can get from the Microsoft app store.
The latter is optimized for Windows use and using it instead of the first one may yield a different end result.

Keep us posted on how things go 🙂

P.S. In case this doesn't help, would you mind sending us a screenshot or a link to a video recording of the issue?
Many thanks in advance!
