winhttp.dll missing

winhttp.dll missing

A few days ago, I went to open up the Spotify application on my laptop (Windows 10) when it came up with an error message saying, "Cannot find 'winhttp.dll'. Please, reinstall this application". I have tried reinstalling it a few times already, but whenever I try to install it again I get an error code 50, saying that I cannot connect to the internet, even though when I use Chrome, my connection works fine. Are these problems linked? How can I fix them? Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

Hey, @zach0266 -

That's not cool! Looks like one of your registy keys(Windows Component) went missing. Please try out the following steps;

  1. Install CCleaner from here;
  2. Go to 'Registry' and click 'Scan for Issues.'
  3. Click 'Fix selected Issues.'

Try it out and tell me if it works 🙂

@SpotiCheck, thanks for your help, but no cigar.

I tried using CCleaner and I repaired all of the registry files but I still get the same error, even when trying to reinstall.

Hey, @zach0266 -

Looks like it's time to bring out the big guns- Try out the following steps below;

  1. Disable such antivirus softwares or firewalls that can interrupt the install process and try reinstalling Spotify through here.

  2. Update the Windows OS or drivers if you can- this might let you work;

  3. Scan RAM and other disks for errors and faulty data. (Start the Command Prompt as Administrator and type 'sfc /scannow')

  4. Kindly leading you to the contact form if the steps above does not work 🙂

Here's a bit of information how to scan your disks: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-use-sfc-scannow-to-repair-windows-system-files-2626161

Hope this works 🙂
