Add support for Android TV

Android TV is Google's latest take on Android for the TV and is released with Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The first device running Android TV is Google's own device Nexus Player.

The good thing with Android TV is that it runs regular Android apps with some modifications and it also has built in support for Google Cast.

Same here, making my shield tv (Android TV) spotify connect ready would be awesome !  Using the workaround with the sideloaded beta apk is really not stable/friendly to use.

I'm surprised no one is taking advantage of the Sideloaded APK workaround for Spotify. I have an Nvidia Shield and use Spotify on it almost daily. The fact that Spotify Connect works in conjunction with my Tablet and Phone makes this workaround worth a try. Rather than using your TV to navigate through music, you use your tablet or phone, very similar to using a Chromecast.

Well, the sideloaded Spotify, controlled by your phone works ok when up & running. The main issue us that I need to first start it separate on the Nexus Player via the sideload launcher. And the controls via the NP player is difficult or impossible.

I have a Nexus Player as well and don't find it difficult to navigate through sideload launcher.

The startup is fine via Sideload launcher, but the navigation inside the Spotify app is not good.

Now that Android TV (Spesifically nVidia Shield Android TV) works as a Chromecast device, I find it weird that my phone and tablet can't find the Chromecast-function in the Spotify app

The current Spotify App only supports the newer Chromecast device that was recently released. You need to use the "Connected Devices" option to connect to the Shield or Nexus Player.

I mean for **bleep** sake, even TV4 Play and SVT Play has released apps for the android tv.

Sideloading is no option on mine device. 

Could you just add support for Android TV? It can't be that difficult. 

And unfortunately Spotify on Playstation 4 isn't working either.

Maybe I should just cancel my membership.
