[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Two and a half years since the first request for this and 620 requests for implementation (a small % of those who actually want it). Come on Spotify - listen to your customers, stop "Considering" and implement this simple addition. You are losing existing and potential customers because of this.

I am a fairly new free user to Spotify, about 3 months. I was driving on the highway listening to Spotify yesterday and out of the sudden, song with explicit lyrics was being played. I am glad that my 3 year old was sleeping behind me. First thing I do this morning is to find out how to filter those songs, and am very surprised such thing does not exist.

I was considering to upgrade but I will hesitate to do so until a solution is available. Please add a feature, that is all it takes to make a children friedly app.

I won't subscribe to Spotify unless they create parental controls to filter explicit material.  This is a good media service but I don't want my children being able to listen to foul music.  I don't understand why this basic functionality isn't in the product.  The songs list whether they are explicit or not so why not put a block in it.

It's outrageous that there have been over 2k kudos and it's still "under consideration". I was just Googling Spotify Parental Controls because my sons love making their own playlists but I want to restrict certain content. Huge dissapointment, Spotify...

This is a great idea. I have a toddler who parrots words and it would bw a good addition to the service to automatically skip explicit songs or play the non-explicit versions.  The functionality should also prevent explicit language contained in Spotifiy advertisements for the free service.

Hooray, someone with better coding skills (and more time on their hands) has created an application that will block explicit songs. Other features include blacklisting artists /songs, skipping repeating songs and of course explicit songs. For $5 it is worth it. Unfortunately it is only for Mac.

Get it at: http://www.getdenied.com/

For my version Spotless go here: http://spotless.rocks

(I am in no way affiliated with denied - I just paid the $5 myself. It just solves this issue that so many people are having)

Please add explicit song filter. I am amazed at how many explict song lyrics pop up during the day at work.  I cannot keep using Spotify unless this feature is added.

Please add an option to hide songs marked as having explicit lyrics.  When I'm at work or around kids, I would like to be able to use Spotify radio/playlists without having to worry about the content.  Pandora and Slacker have this.  Why not Spotify?  I plan to switch to Pandora for now until Spotify adds this feature.
