[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

This feature is what is keeping businesses and coworkers from using this service.  I just can't understand how it isn't present.

Please listen to your customers and add this. I've stopped using the radio feature when my kids are around because Explicit songs can't be filtered out.

Has this really been under consideration for 2 years? ....... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add this option

We will be canceling our subscription today. The variety that Spotify offers is fantastic for our retail store with the exception of no option to remove explicit lyrics. We have tried a variety of playlists that we thought were "safe" over the last month. Unfortunately, the explicit lyrics are proving to be quite embarrassing to us and our customers. We've actually had complaints from our clients.  Not good.

I would love this feature as my daughter has her own Spotify account and I would like to limit explicit music from being played on her account. This suggestion was made originally in 2012...3 years later and I don't see it yet. Please put this on your priority list.

I actually want the opposite. I'd like to the explicit versions of songs to be the default when searching for a song or album on the mobile app. The explicit albums rarely show up on an artist's albums page on the mobile app

Yes, please. This is very important.

Let's get some traction on this one! I was just listening to the Spotify created playlist "The Sound of the United States of America 2014" and a surprising 21 of the 98 songs (AKA 1 in 5 or 21.4%) in the playlist are 'EXPLICIT'.  I am surprised that many of these have been voted to the top by others, obviously not people representing the 'family centered' country I think America aims to be.

I really want Spotify to be a household name, but until it is appropriate to share with my other family members and friends, I simply can't continue to push it.   I would love to have this on and home with the many great playlists and not have to worry about the suggestive or innapropriate lyrics.

Please add this feature!

I am a premium user and was considering upgrading to family plan so my kids can create playlists they love on spotify also, but I just can't do that until I have the ability to control explicit content.  It is really disappoined to find that this feature is unavailable dispite how long it seems this has been requested, and I sincerely hope that Spotify changes this soon!  If not, I really hope someone develops an app for the mobile systems (both apple and android) that addresses this issue. Spotify is amazing but this feature is needed ASAP!

I agree, there is no point to paying for this service if I can't have this set up. Even if it was a premium-only feature, it would be worth upgradng to.
