[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Love Spotify but would really love to not have to worry that I will miss an explicit song in a playlist while my young daughter is listening.

I' was considering signing up to premium, but with no parental controls, that won't be happening.

I am completely underwelmed by the reponsiveness of the developers. Looking back over various forums, I see that this feature was first requested in 2012. We are now in 2015. A simple "It's on our roadmap" response, stopped seeming like helpful feedback about 2 years ago. Now it just seems like a blatant ignoring of customer's needs. I see that this post alone has 66 pages of people backing the original request. 66 pages ?!!!!

Please add a parental control options. Perhaps making explicit songs a switched-off, opt-in option with a password restricted "enable explicit" button.

Sorry, late to the party but it's hard to believe that you don't have a "clean version" option for playback.  "Artists" will continue to be "artists" and will say whatever they want in a song.  They create clean versions ... have to if they want to be played on the radio.  How about we create some kind of easy option to get those ...

This would be wonderful.  I enjoy listening, but would love to listen at work and at home without having to constantly monitor and skip over explicit songs.

This would be a very useful feature. I would be happy if you could flick a switch and it would then skip any song marked as "explicit". I could play my playlists without accidentally exposing my kids to explicit content.

Would definately agree, having an option in your profile/settings to enable or disable this would be great.  As some of the other users have noted, I cannot listen to spotify with my kids in the house (7, 5 and 2) in case there is any bad language, particularly when listening to the radio option.  I don't know all the songs to know if I need to manually skip or not.  This would be so useful.

I can now listen to Spotify all day at work, but I really need to be able to filter out explicit lyrics on some of these playlists!

BlackDimension

I unsubscribed from Spotify and no longer use the servce because it lacks this feature.  Could not believe it did not have it, or that this request is longstanding (since 2012).  I personally perceive this as arrogance and not listening to your existing or would be customers.

Rhapsody supports this feature, so my music services are Pandora and Rhapsody now.  Spotify please add this feature.  It is highly desired feature by your existing users, and many no longer users such as my self.

I work in a couple cafes and use Spotify to play music, and this would be really useful for avoiding explicit songs which many of our customers wouldn't appreciate. Too many times I've been wiping tables in the lobby then had to run back into the office to change a song because of the lyrics.

It seems to me that for playlists that are "Created" by Spotify and the "Radio" feature should automatically filter explicit lyrics.  Much like over the air radio, which can't play explicit lyrics.  If somebody wants to have explicit lyrics in their own playlists that they create then that is their choice.

Maybe online services that provide these discovery services should fall under the same rules?
