[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I have the same situation at work. I can't play any of the music that i like because of the explicity. I hope SPOTIFY does something about it.

AGreed. This shouldn't be a matter of how many people "vote" for it. It's a very basic feature.

"Should we have a pause button?"

"Let's see how many people vote for it before we decide ..."

😉

omg yes please!!! an option to hide the explicit version or the censored version of the album would be great. I keep adding duplicates to my playlists because of this.

As of this post, 154 people have taken the time to add a kudo to this suggestion. Please add the ability, be it in the "Preferences" section or elsewhere, to exclude explicit songs from being played.

Thanks Spotify for the program!

I have to stop using spotify until they do this.  Pandora it is....  I just can't have my little ones listening to all the explicit songs.  One just came on saying something about sucking his balls.  No, not ok for my little girl to hear.  I'm not even sure how it got into the genre I was listening to.

I think I would prefer something in Settings where you could filter out explicit songs. I just searched for "kids jazz" and one of the items had explicit lyrics. Obviously not what I was trying to play for small children! Most of the time I would not want explicit songs. But I would be OK with the suggested button.

ttosbt06

YES!  Itunes give you the option to get a clean or explicit version.  I don't want the explicit version if a clean version is available.

and having to search for only Radio Edits doesn't always work.
