[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Talk about lip service:

As it's been a while since we last posted, cared what you really want,  we want to let you know we're still here and taking note of the kudos/  ignoring your comments here.

Currently this idea is still "Under Consideration". nothing more than a distraction. Your feedback around this desired feature is being passed on internally completely ignored and we'll update keeping making false promises in this thread as soon we get any news to keep your hopes up that we might actualyl get to this some day.

Thanks again for all your feedback and contributions thinking we care about what you really want. We always want your thoughts on Spotify!, as long as they meet our strategic and financial objectives.

Hey @Spotify! @pandora_radio has a censor setting. Any chance of this coming? LOVE playlists but hate cursing surprises ESPECIALLY at work😂!

From the looks of things it seems that Spotify doesnt pay attention to their forums, since this has been an idea for almost 3 years

Its my suggestion that we start a twitter campaign to let them know that this is a concerning issue, you can tweet about this issue to @spotifycares and @spotify telling them that this is a problem.

I have tweeted them in the past and have got a "We are looking into it" response. Maybe there will be some movement on this feature if enough people use other forms of cummunication to let spotify know that this is needed.

If this has been a "good idea" for two years, it seems that it should have already been implemented!  Come on Spotify, I love the service you provide and enjoy listening to new playlists but don't like suddenly hearing an explicit song.

Please add an option to our preferences that enables us to block playing songs labeled as explicit.

I get very annoyed by lsitening to music with swearing in. I would love this feature and it can't be that hard to do, you already label which one is explict, just allow us to turn this off and on.

This needs to be available before I become a subscriber. Everything else that I've seen I've loved about spotify. I need to be able to enjoy songs around kids. (Note I know an additional 5 families that have been introduced to this service but agree with what I have written hear). If this changes please ping me and you have a subscriber

Tweet and post about this. Since Spotify doesn't seem to be paying attention to this forum, take the battle to Twitter and Facebook.  Use #explicitlyrics and #spotifydoesntcare or something similar.

JCRSalon

I run a business and want to use spotify instead of pandora, however I cannot have explicit songs being played. Therefore, I cannot use spotify in my salon. PLEASE allow us to control that so i can switch to spotify from pandora.
