[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Yep! Keep the social media messages going! They seem to actually read those.

Yes, I posted on Twitter and actually got some response. They tried to tell me that they have a lot of requests and can't get to everything right away. I made it clear that this was not just a "request" or something people would "like" to have; it is something it very important to people and should be made a priority. At least they do take notice when you Tweet, so keep on Tweeting!

This thread has just had its 3 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!! I think the first post was on 18th Feb 2012, has had 723 comments and over 73,000 views. Nice to know Spotify listens to its community....  As others have said, also tweet about this to @spotifycares.

Happy <insert any Explicit word> Anniversary.

Y'know, I like Spotify but I also have kids and if another music streaming service starts up in my region that offers this kind of filtering then I'll be switching. I don't particularly want to, but I need this feature and THREE YEARS is a laughably long time to take to implement a feature this simple.

Keep posting on Spotify's Facebook and Twitter, those are getting noticed. Keep up the social media campaign to get this "required" feature added (shouldnt this be a bug?)

Seriously good idea.  I have kids and don't need them listening to the top 40 which is full of songs that are inappropriate for their age.  I need an option to filter by explicit!

Was a while since I wrote here.
I really hope Spotify does something about this Explict content on Spotify!
As i wrote in a earlier comment, "It ruins good music!"
A solution could be to add some Explict setting ON/OFF in the settings menu so those people that for some reason don't want to hear swear words in their music can choose to censor it.

Spotify, do your company a favor, listen to your customers and add an option to turn off explicit lyrics. This is a simple fix!

Where is the debate here?  If someone wants to listen to explicit content, they still can, but if they want to filter that out, they would be able to.  It's a win for everyone... What's the deal Spotify? How about a decision? Until then, I'll stick with Pandora!
