[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

To be honest I am kind of shocked that Spotify does not have this option. I am a middle school teacher and love to put on music in my classroom while my students are working but unfortunately I have to use Pandora and not Spotify because I cannot trust the music that is played. If this was available I would engage it while I am at school and then take it off when I am just listening for my pleasure.

What this will probably result in is me having to look at investing in Pandora One or just switch over to iHeartRadio which both let me filter. This is absolutely not a technical issue since Spotify's whole premise is to be able to curate music so it knows what is playing. I have to think this must be purely economic which is pretty short sighted since this could be a wonderful marketing tool that Spotify is "family friendly".

Please help me stay a loyal customer.

After over a year of trying to get a critical feature included, I have decided to cancel my premuim subscription. I suggest everyone who cares does the same.

How is this not a thing already!! I'm using Pandora right now to play music in the my office over you guys, because you can't filter explicit music. You already have the explicit songs flagged, so why not just allow us to shut those off?

Just signed up and loved it ... until song number TWO.  Can't believe there is no way to turn off explicit language.   Since this looks like it's been in the works for years I'll be cancelling my trial now.  I love what I have seen but this is completly useless without a filter. (I listen where customers can hear.)   Can't believe you don't have this.  I'm  assuming it's all about money since there is absolutly no reason why you would not give your CUSTOMERS who are PAYING for your service this option unless there was a financial reason.  To bad.  Had high hopes for this.  You can check my account and see that , yes, I am canceling until you get a filter.

I am unable to utilise Spotify in my workplace due to the potential of explicit content being played publicly. See-ya!

Any update on this? If not an option to turn off/on explicit music it would be great just to see an E for explicit in the now playing window if the song was explict. I'd like to see this option on the iOS version too.

At the time of writing this, this issue has more votes than everything in the recently implemented list.

This feature is needed for me to use Spotify during most hours (that kids are awake).  Kids should not be exposed to Explicit songs.

The first comment on this is 3 years ago and the last time Spotify mentioned anything about this was a year ago almost.

How has such a no-brainer idea not been implemented yet?

it would be a very helpful feature to give users a choice to turn off explit songs.  My 6 year old son likes to use the ipad and finds his way into spotify.  next thing I hear these crazy songs.  I may have to delete the app.   seems like an easy option to add that has universal appeal.
