[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I don't really even see it as filtering so much as selection. If I like
70's music, I am selecting a playlist that filters out all the artists from
the 80's and 90's. That doesn't mean i'm being unfair to them. The whole
purpose of music systems like this is for people to easily listen to what
they want. In the old days I would just make a mixed tape and not put
songs on that I didn't like on it.

I have already canceled.

Please implement this feature as it would make spotify much more family friendly.  this should not effect those who want to listen to explicit versions or the artists, as "clean" versions are normally created for those artists who care.

TheGreg

Come on Spotify make this happen.

This feature has been "under consideration" for roughly 2 years.  This simple feature is a MUST.  I am tired of having to scramble to find the "next" button when out of the blue a song with F this and F that comes on.   especially when my kids or cleints are around.

Today was the last straw.

 Spotify - consider yourself CANCELLED!!!

I use spotify at work where eliminating explicit songs is necessary so as not to offend clients or co-workers who may find those lyrics offensive. This feature seems like a no-brainer.

More than just skipping an explicit track, swap it with the radio edit.  I DJ middle school dances on occasion...it's really hard to tell which versions are explicit (I use DJay Pro) from there.

Ideally, when switched on, Spotify would either grey out or just not show explicit versions of songs.

Either way, explicit tracks need to be more easily identified, both on desktop and mobile.

Thanks!

Let's make a Twitter push. Here's my tweet,

Hey @SpotifyCares, 2,600+ kudos, 81 pages of comments! http://bit.ly/1Jb6bWL How about you implement explicit filtering ASAP? #spotifynsfw

Maybe if we can get #spotifynsfw trending it will get their attention.

I just signed up for Spotify "Family" and now have 5 devices for $30 per month.  Three of those devices are for my children.  The other two are for my wife and me.  Needless to say, my children love to listen to music.  However, they are offended by explicit content and are often wide-eyed and red-faced when they hear it.  If this feature is not added, we will be leaving Spotify, unfortunately.

Does anyone from Spptify bother to reach the comments from their users.  If so you would think one of them would respond.  It seems that is a pretty unanimous view.  Given their silence I fear we are all just wasting time with these comments.

SpotifyCares replied to my tweet:

Hi Sean, thanks for your feedback! We'll remind our devs it's a popular request /BL

 My response to them:

I suggest you use necessary, essential, or demanded in place of popular. Popular was 2 years, 2,000 kudos and 70 pages ago.
