[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Ironically @spotifycares seems to be the only response from Twitter. I suggest to bombard that specific Twitter account with requests and hope that it forces their hand.

As with many others here, I too can't believe Spotify has not given its users the ability to filter explicit songs.  My 5 and 7 year old kids love playing DJ and streaming Spotify through our house, but I'm tired of them telling me that they just heard someone say f*ck in a song.  I plan on cancelling my Spotify subscription as soon as Apple's new music service launches because of this.  I'm sure their service will have an explicit filter just like iTunes Radio does now.

There should be an option in our user settings that says "explicit content" and gives us an on/off option.

+1 to have this feature added!

Seriously, not a hard thing to do and there's clearly a huge demand for it. How many people like to listen to music with kids?

I start a radio playlist with Katy Perry who my 6 year old loves, then three or four songs in get Maroon 5, then in the middle of the song you get f*ck and sh*t and god knows what else. The last thing I want her repeating when she tries to sing along! If you don't know the specific song that comes up in time to flick off before that happens then the harm is already done. A parental control or explicit lyrics button would be the simplest way to make sure it doesn't happen.

+1 Some sort of parental controls would be an awesome addition to the site/apps.

I think it would be awesome to have a few options for this. No Explicit, censored explicit, full explicit.

I have to admit, as much as I love Spotify, I'm pretty sure it's run 100% by artificial intelligence.  Otherwise, it is very hard to comprehend their inability to respond to the many, many outstanding requests for this incredibly simple to implement feature.

No one is asking Spotify to censor anything, rather we need the ability to filter content based on a single property, whether the title has the label "explicit" attached to it or not.

Oh, but the way, the spelling checker doesn't know about the proper name "Spotify",  which is kind of amusing.

Don't forget to send them a tweet with the hashtag #SpotifyNSFW and bombard their Facebook page.

In case anyone wasn't already aware, Spotify doesn't give a darn what anyone here thinks. This request is 3 years old, has thousands of kudos and hundreds of comments. This would take about ten minutes for them to implement and they continue to refuse to. I have a not-so-family-friendly family plan that currently gives two of my daughters access to music that if I found on a CD in their rooms I would ground them until they were 18 and burn the disc.I think the only way to get this changed is for people on paid plans to cancel their acounts until it's implemented.

The irony of it all is that Spotify won't allow any of the words you hear in the explicit music (that they won't give us a filter for) to appear in these forums. What the **bleep** is up with that?

EDIT*** I knew that they would change **bleep** to bleep but they even changed d_   a  _ m  n to "darn" - WTF Ever.
