[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Don't know what spotify management is thinking. It is such an easy option. May cost developer few minutes to add the option.

Please allow for a clean option-  I am a new user but do not want to hear tracks with explicit langauge, I had allowed my daughter to play only tracks from the "Kids" playlist option but have realised that some of those play lists also contain explicit lyrics! (the tween playlist for example) This is totally unappropriate.

Please add an option to block songs / tracks that have explicit lyrics.  I've been enjoying listening at work, but find it very awkward when four letter words start flying around.  So not necessary!

Either that, or label channels that have explicit lyrics so that I can choose not to listen to those.

Thanks!

Common Spotify, this is ridiculous. How hard can it be to put on a little parental control here? 3 years later and you will haven't done it. You guys are way too slow in your software developpment. Good job making it easy for your compeditors!

NOT renewing Premium subscription. Hello Apple Music!

emeba

How many more comments do you need before you implement this simple feature.  Pandora has it, Google Play has it. It's a no brainer.  Your last update on this was over a year ago.  You have over 1000 comments requesting this feature.  Get on with it.

krchapman

Make this happen please. Looking to replace Rhapsody completely. Have young kids that I would like to offer the service. Need controls to restrict versions.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE add this feature! As a developer I know it is possible, those who choose to listen to music with explict lyrics are more than welcome to keep that setting off, but there needs to be a switch either in the account settings or in the playlists themselvs (especially the onse maintained by Spotify) that would allow filtering of songs with explict content. So, as a father of six, a premium subscriber and as a human being who simply does not personally apreciate listening to music I love to hear and then suddenly being blasted with the most profanity ever displayed I plead this request would be fufilled and completed as soon as humanly possible. If Promo Only and other DJ music providing companies can provide for that option I know Spotify can. If the feature is not able to be implimented shortly I will unfortunatly have to move my buisness elsewhere which would be a pitty because I do like so many of the options that Spotify offers.

Please take not and please make this very minor alteration to your system. You would have the gratitude of thousands and may even earn that much more of a following. That would be great for buisness. Then I could encourage all my friends to join because I know that their children and they would be safe listening to the music your service provides if they so choose to disable the explict content music.

Thank you for taking the time to read and hopefully your company will respond positivly to these requests all asking for the same feature. An official responce would be greatly apreciated, but I am not holding my breath.

I really dont get why you wouldnt listen to your paying customers asking for such a simple feature?

I just bought a family plan for my family not knowing you didnt have parental controls already.

It just seems really stupid you dont have it and it looks like I will have to cancel the family plan and go back to your competitors.

Do you really want to continue to lose income and customers?

Stonyclaws

Its been a long time now Spotify since thousands started making the request to add safety mode for our children.  You don't seem to be listening.  Get with the program.  You are going to lose money - by losing customers.  Seems like an easy call to make in this day and age of family friendly tech.  You could lead!  Just think of the Kudos you would make!

I would enjoy this option as well, being that I'm a fitness instructor. It's very embarrassing when songs come on that have explicit lyrics and I have to skip them.
