[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

The language in a lot of these songs is filthy...

F you, F you very very much  - chorus

Thats how you know you F'd - chorus

Various songs saying Mother F'err

Its pretty pathetic that t his is common usage now in song lyrics.
I cant have spotify playing at work, or with clients, or kids... but its not just about them... its about me. I dont want to here the extreme profanity.

I listened to the comedy genre one t ime and was sickened by paedophile jokes and one female comedian saying to an audience member ' Id let you gang rape me'

If people want to listen to crap like this... then let them polute their brain cells, but the rest of us want a filter to so we know the content is safe.
You just sent me a promo email asking me to gift spotify to my family members. You have got to be kidding!

Its all about freedom of choice

Personally I have no problem with explicit lyrics.

When your having a bad day turn the volume up & select Killing in the Name of - by Rage against the Machine.

5 minutes later the world is a better place.

However I have 2 music loving boys of 6 & 8 who love selecting songs on Spotify but I cannot let them do this unsupervised.

Surely this restricts your product offering.  I would not offer them the interenet unfiltered so why would I offer them music in the same way!

Spotify are missing a real opportunity here.

If this feature was available Santa could have beeing bringing the boys a Spotify connect enabled music player this Christmas.........

Whoever is in charge of this feature needs to act quickly as the music streaming industry is becomming more competitive each day & I would hate to see my favorite app be replaced by one of the new pretenders on the block.

I enjoyed the email about Family membership!

I can't decide between spotify family for my 11 and 8 year olds or a carton of cigarettes, which is more damaging!? They are a big fan of Nerf guns - I wonder if they sell live ammunition?

ARE YOU SERIOUS... FAMILY!!???

I've been following this thread for years in the hope of progress - it's obviously not being monitored and the twitter support just blew me off. I think letters to the CEO are the next step as they are missing a trick. My kids love music and I would buy a family subscription if this feature was added.

I'll be honest - I'm hooked on Spotify and don't want to move but Apple music at £15 for all the family with privacy is a big pull. Might also have something to do with Taylor Swift...

Has anyone tried tweeting Daniel Ek   @eldsjal  ?

My 3-month trial with Apple Music was fantasic, so yesterday I canceled my Premium subscription to Spotify.  In an act of protest, I will not even stream music on the free service (they make money that way too from advertisements). I am also helping many others make the switch to another service.

Upon cancelling, there was a survey, but I was not offer the opportunity to say why I really canceled; I had to choose "Other".  And Spotify had the nerve to say that I WILL be back.  Don't hold your breath.

Spotify, if you are reading this, I canceled because you refuse to offer the option to filter explicit music.  It was okay while it lasted.  Good riddance.

What's the go with this ? Why can't they offer this?

This is the only thing keeping me from switching from my other services. 😛

I want explicit content filter also. How can I email Spotify and let them know?

Make a playlist with the songs YOU want. All explicit songs are labeled on the picture as explicit.
