[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Was going to upgrade to family account, but will wait until I can filter the nasty stuff.  I don't mind rap, but some of those dudes are just nasty.  I don't really want my kids listening to explicit content.  I'd play more spotify in my car on family trips if I didn't have to worry about explicit content.

You could make more money if you had parental controls to filter out explicit songs. I would love to buy a monthly subscritpion for my 11 year old daughter, but alas, I won't until we have this feature. Please, Spotify! What is stopping you?

I would upgrade but I can't find out how to filter explicit lyrics.

Yes please implement this! BTW, Amazon Prime Music has this option....just sayin...

"Status: Good Idea, give it some kudos

Updated: 2015-11-17

Hey everyone, Spotify Staff here again. We want to let you all know that we are continuing to keep an eye on this idea as it grows in the Idea Exchange. We don't have an update for you at the moment, this idea has the 'Good Idea' status. If we have any news around this feature we'll post here so you're the first to know. Thanks!"

Are you guys serious? This topic has been going on for 3 years and it has the status of good idea??? Youre keeping an eye on it??? SO maybe in 3 years time you will upgrade it to "really good idea" - me and 100s of others arent holding our breath and many have left already - Google play music has this feature...

I'm going to have to cancel my subscription and go back to the app that allows me to control whether I hear explicit music or not (Pandora) - sorry Spotify - this mechanism should be simple enough to implement - the data is there, just utilize it!

Bye!

New Spotify user, but can't use it when anyone is around due to explicit content. Considering premium, but this should be a free feature!

Bmozisek

I just cancled my account since I found both Google Play and Amazon have this feature.
