[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I would encourage everybody to give them one star on the app store. They might rethink it when their app only gets 2 stars.

I know I am probably beating a dead horse here but I would love this feature to be implemented. It's hard to listen at work. I'll probably go back to Pandora unless this changes.

Everyone on this forum should check out the newer site called VidAngel you can rent a video for a dollar and filter out whatever you choose. check it out here. https://www.vidangel.com/vip/m6ogyijd4/u

I run and operate a family-friendly business and simply cannot afford to have explatives over my loudspeaker with a classroom full of children visiting. I would greatly appreciate a feature like this but... it doesn't seem as though the Spotify team has enough support? Why so much hesitation for a voluntary feature; or is it simply a matter of making an investment into a substantiated demographic?

I thoroughly enjoy the services offered by Spotify as a whole but this is really a deal breaker; please consider the entirety of your listeners views, uses and circumstances.

Here is Google Play Music. My new music provider. Better than Apple Music, more considerate than Spotify: Note the settings highlighted below.

Never heard of vidangel. It does sound like a clever concept. Have you been
using it?
Used it. It works really quite well—a little spotty at times. I use the iOS app and Chromecast it to my TV.

@1248817595 The company has really gotten better lately and if you ever have
an issue they will give you free movie credits to make up for any issues. I
have used it on my laptop, chromecast, and Roku and it works like a charm!
One thing to know is that you have to buy the movie for $20 and then you can
auto sell it back after watching for $19 in credits on your Vid Angel
account. So it's sort of like making an initial $19 deposit for Vid Angel.
You can request this amount back any time but I always am watching movies
through them so I keep it there =). I would definitely check it out. It sure
beats redbox. If they don't have a movie you want you can request it! Here's
my personal link. https://www.vidangel.com/vip/m6ogyijd4/u

I've run some playlists marked as "work", but whoever created the lists must work someplace different than where I work! Give me a clean and safe option!

It's a shame such a good service lacks this feature when the other major services do. As a new subscriber it's going to be a deal breaker for me unfortunately.
