[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Write to office@spotify.com and let them know plus give a low ranking and
review on google play.

We listen to spotify at work with clients present.  A way to differentiate explicit songs/language to eliminate it would be very helpful.  Pandora made it very easy.  Can Spotify?

By not having the ability to control content, Spotify is behind the curve. Almost every other brand in this industry, video or music, offers parental controls as an option. The term "Family Plan" is anything but. Both Netflix and Pandora allow me as a parent to set up seperate profiles for my children in order for me to control the content they see and hear. Spotify does not.

Get it together, Spotify. I am not "upgrading" to the Family Plan if filtering content is not an option because that's the point of it, right?

I finally turned off my spotify subscription. After getting the "canned response" on the explicit filtering issues (that spotify does not sensor artisits) - I tried playing some playlists they had created, I would have thought "Teen Party" and "afternoon teen hangout" would be appropriate music for a group of 12 year olds. I thought wrong --- suddenly the songs were dropping the "F-bomb" and the "N-word" left and right ... Frankly I do not need to hear that either ... you cant even play the pop song plaaylists without hearing those words ...

This will make great fodder in the media ... best of luck spotify

I would think the artists get paid the same amount if the non-explicit version is played

I just don't get it?

Yes, please add this feature!  Not only is this good for shielding children, but some of us adults really don't appreciate explicit language either.  Thanks!!

Joined Spotify to use with my system at home. Left less than 30 minutes later when I found that I could not filter explicit material. I'm not going to pay you to bring things into my home that I won't tolerate. Get with it. Every other music service of worth has.
