[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Hey Spotify - I was about to buy an additional 4 subscriptions for my 3 teenagers and 1 middle school student until I figured out that I cannot filter out the EXPLICIT songs.  If you are serious about trying to sell to families you need to allow parents to filter out the explicit language.  I don't need other parents and school principals calling me because their kid is singing inappropriate lyrics learned when they were at my house.

I would love this feature. My wife and I both  work in schools and playing music where kids can here without explicit laungage would be great!

This needs to be an account option, not an app option. I almost exclusively use Spotify with Sonos so I need to ensure that the linked account doesn't return explicit content to Sonos.

Well, it's done. Just cancelled my Spotify Premium Family subscription. My three teenagers and I are now Apple Music users due to no response from Spotify on this issue.

Spotify, please please push this to the top of your fix list! I la fan of your product and have been a user for years. Please make this more urgent. A lot of users would be appreciate this very much!

I recently purchased a premium spotify account for personal use as well as to play over Sonos at the art school that I run. Unfortunately I have young students and older students in my classes for whom many songs that pop up on playlists are inappropriate. I've tried to screen playlists ahead of time but it's just become impossible- explicit songs always creep in. I don't understand why a feature that screens out explicit songs can't be added.

Unfortunately I'll liekly have to choose to cancel my subscription which is a shame, because I love spotify otherwise. I just want you to know how important this feature would be.

Is thwre an explanation to why Spotify is not developing the explicit filter? I just got Premium and this is a basic need.

They often reply to this request with some cut and paste response saying
they don't want to censor music.

This is an unsatisfactory answer since no one here is requesting
censorship, only the freedom to choose whether or not we listen to explicit
music.

However, the fact that they don't provide this option is, to many, an
infringement on their customers' rights.

Go figure...

I'm unsubscribing from this forum. It's just not happening. If by some chance they do add it, if someone would message me that'd be aweseme. Goodbye!

My guess is that they don't see the "responsible adult" as their target demographic. Too bad we control the checkbook! Also unsubscribing. Bye!
