[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Why not offer the radio edit for popular songs? I just got a premium membership and am shocked to find no parental controls! Not sure I'll stick with it.

4 years later, and this no-brainer still hasn't been implemented?  😕

its insane you dont have this feature yet!

JohnonSpotify

To call your service "Spotify Family" is actually disingenuous - no options for kid safe accounts is a huge oversight and an essential feature at this point.

Again, that multi-user option should be renamed until you do something which actually takes families into condsideration.

Spotify, come on and listen! It's not asking too much to add a feature to block explicit content!

Please!

What happened to the elevation to " under consideration" nearly 4 years ago. Why not make the idea dead and **bleep** all over the concerned parents who buy family subscriptions. You are already **bleep**ting all over their kids

johncats

Hey it IS spotify who censor this forum - you cant even get a **bleep** in here!!!!

The word I am trying to get across is TIHS backwards. Spotify assholes

Okay so following my post earlier in this thread I just cancelled my subscription. It was a difficult decision as I have really enjoyed Spotify. However last night I was playing a general Pop playlist when a song 'Shut Up by Stormzy' started, the beginnning has some swearing but the ending... Here are the lyrics at the end of the song. Don't get me wrong I'm no prude, i'm quite happy for the filter to be defaulted to off, but in the context of a family plan subscription and pop playlist, how can a explicit filter not be a reasonable option?

Smooth on this ting, start locking up daughters

Yeah, so shut your f**king stupid mouths
Chatting bare f**king s*it
Shut the f**k up, shut your f**king mouths
Oi rude boy shut up
One time yeah, chatting bare f**king sh*t
Shut up man
Pu*sy's what

It's a tough choice because I love Spotify, but I'm going to cancel my subscription until this is added. Come on Spotify! Listen to the market! Give the people what they want!
