[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I been meaning to find out how to filter Explicit material for ages as I find it just 'unneccessary'. Yes I use bad languange on occasion and the odd word here and there I can cope with but it's become so mainstream it's distracting from my enjoyment of the music. Then as a parent I want to be able my kids to enjoy music without having bad language pounded at them like it's an everyday thing.

I can't believe this thrad goes back so long and Spotify are yet to implement an 'Explicit Content' filter option.....criminal IMO

Cancelled my subscription yesterday due to the refusal to address this issue.

Personally, I wouldn't use this feature but I can DEFINITELY see how it would come in handy. Spotify has some issues to address..

I just cancelled my Premium account because they dont have this feature.

Incredible that Spotify did not even adress their reasons for not adding the explicit filter.

Adios amigos

I'd play more of spotify's suggested lists if this feature was enabled.

I've clicked on a number of playlists that show when the app starts up and then I click right back out when I see sporatic "explicit" cuts.

I'm open to trying new music, but I'm not interested in the "expllicit" cuts, especially at the office.

Thanks,

Bill

Just had a trial go of Google play music, after less than a month, I'm cancelling Spotify and moving to play music. The lack of any response by Spotify, even to say they're working on it, is very very poor costumer service

This is a wound to spotify that time will not heal - it will continue to bleed until something is done about it, and frankly, it is a rather ugly sore that they are showing off.

Just started listening to Spotify I was tired of repeats on Pandora I've been a long time PAID subscriber of Pandora.  But in the few days I've been working to Spotify I am inundated with multiple songs per hour that are profanity laced degrading of women and men using foul derogatory language common in Rap and R&B.  Looks like I WON'T be able to SUBSCRIBE to Spotify as I have been enjoying this feature for years on PANDORA.  Just because someone calls it ART doesn't mean it is.  I prefer to choose my art, and filter what I perceive as garbage.

If Spotify doesn't check this thread we sould write them to this address: support@spotify.com

Maybe it's more direct and they will know about this serious problem!

I did it!

I shouldn't waste your time. I emailed this address when I cancelled, copying in my messages and this thread. I got a pre-scripted "we're sorry" reply. They really don't care....
