[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

I've been a Pandora listener for years and thought I would test drive Spotify.  It's going to be a *very* short test now that I've discovered that Spotify doesn't provide a way to block songs with explicit lyrics from playing.  Given that this thread has been open for four years, I doubt a change will be forthcoming.  'Bye Spotify.

Why is this so hard?

-- UPDATE --

Waited two weeks.  No response.  Canceled Spotify.  Set up Apple Music for the whole family.  Cheaper and includes option to omit explicit music.  LOVE IT!   Good luck Spotify, on your gameplan to NOT provide such a simple solution to the 3rd most requested feature on your entire community.  Apple Music may have copied you, but at least they know how to take care of their customers.  Bye!

+But spotify DO filter explicit content  **bleep** **bleep** **bleep** **bleep**  -- you see how they protect us all!  So much for spotify free speech. But thank GOD they provide such protection for our sensitive adult ears. Pity about the kids.

Cancelling premium account and going back to Pandora / Amazon because Spotify REFUSES to add a button for us to filter out explicit music. Also cancelling kids accounts too.

I really hate how I have to skip songs I love from the radio but can't listen on spotify with my kids around.  I wish they would have playlists of the radio versions as well.  I like the idea of the button where you can skip the songs all together if we can't get a kid safe version of the song.

I just cancelled my premium membership. If you feel strongly about this, you shoud too. Other companies offer this feature.

Spotify community announcement very early 2012 :       "Once an idea reaches 100 kudos, the idea officially entered into the idea review process (not before). This means, when an idea reaches 100 kudos we review the idea in our weekly community meeting.  At this point, we'll review the idea and its comments then pass the idea on to the relevant team for review. We don't promise every idea will get built, but we'll make sure we clarify the reasons why if the idea just isn't right for us or if it isn't the right time for development. "   =-----------Well?????
