[All Platforms] Explicit Filter

Add a button that controls whether Explicit songs are played or not.  When it is off and you're listening to an album or playlist, the explicit songs are skipped. That way you can still listen to your favorite album or playlist when more impressionable members of the family (kids / parents) are around.

Hey folks!

It's great to hear music as the artist intended it to be heard, this means Spotify can sometimes include explicit content.

We recommend looking out for the EXPLICIT tag on any releases (E on the web player).
Note: Our explicit content tags are applied based on information we receive from rights-holders. This means we can’t guarantee all explicit content is marked as such.

It's also now possible to use the Explicit content filter on mobile and tablet devices (more devices coming soon!). Right now, the setting is only for the individual account and device. If you do apply the setting on your phone, it doesn't filter explicit content for the same account on the desktop app. It also doesn’t apply if you use Spotify Connect to play to another device. For more information on this, check out this support article.

We'll keep you up-to-date if there's anything else to share!

Thanks

Our 4,500+ kudos for an explicit button are nothing to Spotify, One article from Digital Trends states they have over 20 million paid subscribers  and 55 million free listeners. We are the gnat on the elephant. Why would they listen to us when this Community is not an "official Spotify support service"?   75 million people must not care about  an explicit button or they would have put one in by now.

Looking at their "Under Consideration" statistics (total of 11 ideas)  6 of them are from 2012, 2 from 2013, 2 from 2015 and 1 from 2016. They have ZERO Implemented ideas. I am checking out the other streaming services. Google+ Music community has comments similar to this one in that their requests fall into a black hole as well. Have not tried the Apple community yet, it is up next!

Seriously, how was this option not like a top priority for Spotify? Pandora has this built it from the get go. I can't let my kids use Spotify b/c no way to diable explicit lyrics songs.

After 4500+ kudos.............this should be a no brainer.

SPOTIFY TEAM - PLEASE MAKE THIS A FEATURE (to diable explicit content) FOR YOUR NEXT RELEASE.

COM'ON MAN!!!

888margo888  dont forget that the gnat killed the elephant!  All it had to do was get into the ear canal -- perhaps that is why spotify wont listen and has shut up its ears to us

Adding one more voice to the feature request - please add the ability to filter (not play) tracks marked as explicit.

Please, please, please?

DesertGirl5

I please ask that you install a filter to not play tracks marked as explicit.  I love Spotify and would use the "Browse" features more if I didn't have to listen to the "explicit" tracks that are intermingled with other tracks. I also have children that use Spotify and worry about language.

Hurry up and get this organised FGS how long can it take to add a disable explicit songs button... Come on!!!

pascal_gagnon

I just looked for this feature, and cannot believe it's not already available.  This is ridiculous.  I though spotify was a much more professional service than this.

"continuing to evaluate this request" = we don't care. go away.

Not solved... Need this feature! Too many songs with explicit content and young kids around/work place.

Spotify says it doesn't filter songs!? It's not filtering, it's me selecting not to hear it... It's my user preference.

Where is my "Skip Explicit" button?
